You cannot remove the AllowRecurring flag, but you don't actually need to. The merchant can only initiate a recurring payment, so he can just stop doing so, for a given transactionid, any time.

Please note, also, that the amount restriction applies only to refunds and captures. The sum of the refunds/captures of a transaction cannot exceed the original transaction's amount.
This does not apply to recurring payments. You can charge any amount via a recurring payment, no matter what the original transaction's amount was.
You are right about the search button in the demo environment, thanks for reporting it.
