this is my, very simple, rev-proxy rule:

Can you add:

proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Host $host;

to the location block in your nginx setup? sinatra will try to get request.host from there if it exists. If that doesn't fix the issue, I'll dig deeper.

setting proxy_set_header did the trick... Sorry for the false bug report. Thanks!
