Note on why this issue was closed: WebGL uses Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine and we get very good performance. We do very few draw calls, so using WebGPU offers little performance improvements. While WebGPU may yield cleaner code for compute shaders, we have robust and efficient WebGL based compute shaders
from niivue.
