Apologies if this is a newbie issue, but I started using the jsbin example from: http://jsbin.com/vuzuzezi/73/edit
These examples were awesome and did a Save As to a single file to convert to the time series example I had in mind.
My understanding that I only need to link the lineData field in the JSON content data and I'd be fine, but that didn't work.
Code below w/ screencaps of output/error.

I want to dig into this more to see if I can figure out what's happening, but wanted to post incase someone knows exactly what is causing this, and how to fix it. I had some user data that caused a page using the vertical-bar-chart
to hang the browser. Debugging it seems like its getting stuck trying to calculate how much the label should be rotated. I ended up fixing, temporarily, but adjusting the maxLabelHeight
. It seems like it would be good to bail out of the rotation after N attempts, and or allow for forcing the degree of rotation.
The input that causes the hang is provided below. I was using ember-charts#master
installed yesterday.

Issue #1 offers a Hello World example and I'm sure the author would open a pull request to edit the documentation directly, but it's currently very difficult to contribute to the documentation and getting started guides.
The finishedData method for the timeseries chart is looking for an an array but is fed an object of line and bar data. Once flattened it works as expected. I have this working in my repo.
finishedData: Ember.computed('_groupedLineData.[]', '_groupedBarData.[]', function() {
var values = [];
_.flattenDeep(this.get('_groupedBarData'))
.forEach(bar => {
return values.push(bar);
});
_.flattenDeep(this.get('_groupedLineData'))
.forEach(line => {
return line.values.forEach(point => {
values.push(point);
});
});
return values;
}),
Need to clean up the gh-pages branch and set up the release script to publish new docs/demo app on every release, similar to how ember-table works.
Hi, Am using time series component chart, While using weekly interval it renders the data from Sundays interval week date.
Example: Today's date is Jan07 (Wednesday). In my object I have given the data to render from Last 30 days. (i.e. From Dec 17 to Jan 07). But, In UI ember charts forcefully renders from (Dec21 (Sunday) - Jan04). It's unacceptable. How can I overcome from this issue? Please help.
The D
and H
option for selectedInterval
on a time series chart ignore the maxNumberOfLabels
setting, making it impossible to tweak the tick count for a small screen or large set of data.
Apologies for newbie question:
These look great, but I'm not sure how to use them with ember-cli..
Can anyone give a quick example of how to install and use with embercli?
Thanks
When I use the latest versions of Ember_1.9.1 and Handlebars_v2.0 the below error is thrown.
"Uncaught Error: <Ember._HandlebarsBoundView:ember3153> Handlebars error: Could not find component or helper named 'time-series-chart'"
In the time-series-chart options, the description indicates a time
field should be used, but the example for the description uses a date
field. The time
field is the correct key.
Hello, I've got a vertical bar chart as follows in HBS:
{{vertical-bar-chart data=chartData stackBars=true}}
chardData contains the following:
{"label":2,"group":"2014-01-22","value":0},{"label":1,"group":"2014-01-22","value":2},{"label":0,"group":"2014-01-22","value":0},{"label":2,"group":"2014-01-23","value":3},{"label":1,"group":"2014-01-23","value":0},{"label":0,"group":"2014-01-23","value":5},...
This renders fine and groups the data accordingly, however no matter what I try by tweaking parameters/code in ember-charts.js, I can't get the y labels to render as whole numbers. They always show up as (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc...).
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave
First of all thanks for ember-charts. It's great library.
I am wondering if there is a possibility to use stackBars with Time-series-chart?
Ember Charts looks way cool, but I'm finding the project overly complicated and the documentation overly lacking. Could you please provide a hello world example that displays a simple chart with some data and nothing else? Please no fancy build systems, no coffee script, etc. Just raw EmberJS like you see in the EmberJS guides.
Hi guys!
I am using the ember-charts lib for my project. I use two kinds of charts:
The vertical bar works perfectly but the scatter seems to be unable to resize itself.
When I inspect my html I see that the svg element has "height=0" and if I resize it manually I can see some rendering (but way too small)
Is this a bug or should I handle those charts in a different way?
Thank you !
am using Time series component chart Yearly interval, In my object I have given the data object from past 2011 to 2015.
But, In UI data renders upto 2014 only. reproduced the scenario in this below jsbin
http://emberjs.jsbin.com/hudote/1/edit?output
Am I missing something? Please help.
Just try to change color here: http://addepar.github.io/ember-charts/#/ember-charts/pie
For example, @label-color
(default value: #888) conflicts with Bootstrap's @label-color
(default value: #fff). Unless I'm missing something, the only way around this is to manually redefine the whole style (in this case, svg text { fill: #888; }
later on in your LESS.
I feel that something like @ember-charts-label-color
would be better (Bootstrap should probably do the same, but...).
Hello,
Not sure this is an actual issue..
It seems that the chart is auto-resized when the container width is changed, though it doesn't seem to do so on height change.
Is this intentional?
How can I make the chart fit into its container?
Thanks!
Whenever I try to call the time-series-chart I get an error like this:
Invalid value for attribute d="MNaN,361.7111111111111LNaN,344.06666666666666"
It always regards the path drawing; could you please tell if it's me or if there is actually a bug in the library?
I am calling the data this way in the relative controller, none of them work:
import Ember from 'ember';
export default Ember.Controller.extend({

Hello there,
I am experiencing a similar issue to #19 where my charts are being rendered by default with a 0px width and height SVG. If I change the size of the SVG manually, then it reveals a small chart (105px by 104px, chart-viewport class) which I cannot override at all.
I have tried all the chart types and the effect is the same. Like the previous reporter, I am using Bootstrap (3.0) but also Liquid Fire and Ember CLI. Unfortunately, Bootstrap and Liquid Fire already have some known issues with inheriting height, so the source of the problem may not be very clear. Code extract below:
/controllers/dashboard.js
import Ember from 'ember';
export default Ember.Controller.extend({
needs: ['application', 'nav'],
chartContent: [
{
"label": "Equity",
"value": 12935781.176999997
},
{
"label": "Real Assets",
"value": 10475849.276172025
},
{
"label": "Fixed Income",
"value": 8231078.16438347
},
{
"label": "Cash & Cash Equivalent",
"value": 5403418.115000006
},
{
"label": "Hedge Fund",
"value": 1621341.246006786
},
{
"label": "Private Equity",
"value": 1574677.59
}
]
});
/styles/app.scss
.dashboard-container {
margin-top: 1em;
.chart {
height: 295px;
margin-top: 1em;
.graphic {
width: 100%;
height: 250px;
}
}
}
/templates/dashboard.hbs
Thoughts?
p.s. Great work guys!
Hello,
I used Ember-charts successfully last summer. Tried to re-install and got the following error from Handlebar:
Uncaught Error: Unknown template object: function handlebars-v2.0.0.js:455
As a result the 'horizontal-bar-chart' helper is not recognized by handlebar and I got the following error:
Uncaught Error: App.StatisticView:ember768 Handlebars error: Could not find component or helper named 'horizontal-bar-chart' ember.js:6922
I'm using Handlebars 2.0 and the latest version of Ember-Charts
Thanks for you help.
Hey guys, I've been trying to use ember-charts for a while now, but I can't get it to work, I suppose it could be some sort of deprecation, but as I'm still learning ember I think I should report it.
This is my route:
import Ember from 'ember';
export default Ember.Route.extend({
model: function() {
return [
{
"time": d3.time.format('%Y-%m-%d').parse("2013-05-01"),
"value": 40
},
{
"time": d3.time.format('%Y-%m-%d').parse("2013-05-02"),
"value": 80
},
{
"time": d3.time.format('%Y-%m-%d').parse("2013-05-03"),
"value": 120
}
];
}
});
And in my template, I've used:
<div class="chart-container">
{{time-series-chart lineData=model}}
</div>
I'm using this example: #1 as a base, it's a bit old but I think it's still valid.
When I try to open the page, I'm getting this error in the console:
Uncaught Error: Assertion Failed: Depending on arrays using a dependent key ending with `@each` is no longer supported. Please refactor from `Ember.computed('_groupedBarData.@each', function() {});` to `Ember.computed('_groupedBarData.[]', function() {})`.
I know it would be better to ask for help on stackoverflow, but I'm wondering if it is not something wrong with ember-charts.
I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong, if so, please tell me.
Hi,
beatiful ember addon! It would be perfect if it fit perfectly with ember-cli, that actually have some bugs while using with it.
For example, I just take the same example as https://github.com/Addepar/ember-charts/blob/master/app/templates/ember_charts/time_series.hbs and ported it in my project. While I load the route, the chart will not render unless I don't route in it from another route.
Thanks!
Hey everyone,
It's great to see so many people using and enjoying ember-charts. When this project was first started, we never expected the attention and support we're now getting.
We've been spending a lot of time recently discussing how to port things to ember-cli, upgrade to Ember 1.9 and 1.10, and a whole lot more, and we've come to a conclusion.
We clearly are big fans of porting things around and spending time working on upgrades. Once we're on ember-cli, these things will become a thing of the past. Thanks to Ember's "stability without stagnation" mission, we'll never have to worry about complicated upgrade processes. Even upgrading to 2.0 should be painless.
We don't want this. I think it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyways: no pain, no gain.
We're therefore planning to move this whole repository over to Angular 1.0 now, and upgrade to Angular 2.0 when it's ready. This should give us years of additional pain. Hopefully Angular 3.0 will be ready by the time we're on 2.0 to keep us constantly burning off those code calories.
In order to avoid any confusion, we will be keeping the name the same! "ember-charts" will still be the same Ember Charts library you know and love, just now in Angular.
Please let us know what you think!
This issue may be present with other chart types as well.
I have a simple timeseries chart with 2 lines and 0 bars built based on the example given in Issue #1, using made up sample data.
When resizing the window, I expected the chart to either...
Regardless of whether the window is scaled up or down, in or out, the chart gets larger and larger every time. It doesn't add any more ticks but simply increases the space between each horizontal line.
When hovering over a point in a scatter chart:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property '__nextSuper' of undefined
I have tried following to change the color of pie chart
{{pie-chart data=content maxRadius=100 selectedSeedColor="#2996cc"}}
and
{{pie-chart data=content maxRadius=100 selectedSeedColor="rgb(41, 150, 204)"}}
Both don't work. Am I missing something?
Trying to use ember-charts but with the latest Ember updates, a lot of the code used has deprecated items:
With Ember 2.4 out, is an update planned to utilize the latest Ember features?
Is there a way to draw a line of best fit through points on the scatter plot? I believe this is supported by D3, so even if you could point me towards how to hack it in there would be a bit help!

Hi all,
Highcharts (and ember-highcharts) has some neato built-in drilldown functionality (http://www.highcharts.com/demo/column-drilldown)
Any chance y'all are gonna add this sort of thing in the near future?
I am using the vertical bar chart to display data. Most of the time the y-axis min and max values adjust properly. However, for certain datasets, the max value for y is too small and it results the in the actual bars shooting off the top. I haven't been able to figure out any reason for why this is happening.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there are way to manually set the y-axis scale?
It would be great to be able to take advantage of some of the recent bug fixes without having to run master
Hi, I have problem viewing the chart in Chrome.
I have an array of data, and based on the user input/select, I filter the data and feed it to ember-chart in the required format. The problem is that on Chrome, nothing is rendered. I can view the chart fine on Firefox and IE.
This is the generated HTML view from Chrome Dev Tools. The container for the chart is generated, but not the data.
<div id="ember829" class="ember-view chart-frame scroll-y chart-time-series">
<svg width="1333" height="500" data-bindattr-16="16">
<g class="chart-viewport" transform="translate(30,30)" data-bindattr-17="17"></g>
</svg>
</div>
One strange thing: When I exclude the ember-charts.css
from loading, the chart is rendered, without correct color and popup of course. I'm not sure what is the problem here, browser compatibility or my code.
I get the following error when trying to install with ember install ember-charts
:
Registry returned 404 for GET on https://registry.npmjs.org/ember-charts
Seems like the addon hasn't yet been published to npm? I can install it fine with ember install Addepar/ember-charts
.
By the way, thanks for updating this plugin! Made my week ๐

Hello,
I think this is a wonderful charting library, but I noticed only a few chart types are available at this time. I was wondering if there are any plans to support additional chart types such as those listed in this title?
If so what are the charts in active development and if not would a new chart type like Bubble chart be a valid pull request?
Thanks
The current code in dist
uses the following in the ScatterChartComponent
:
getGroupColor: Ember.computed(function() {
var _this = this;
return function(d, i) {
var colorIndex;
colorIndex = 0;
if (_this.get('displayGroups')) {
i = _this.get('groupNames').indexOf(d.group);
colorIndex = Math.floor(i / _this.get('numGroupShapes'));
}
return _this.get('colorScale')(colorIndex / _this.get('numGroupColors'));
};
}),
I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do here, but using the iterating i
variable as a local var doesn't quite seem to work properly, and you always get the same color. I've over-ridden this function in my own code to do something custom, but figured I'd mention this.
/cc @bigsley
I recently installed ember-charts via bower and Ember.AddeparMixins
was undefined, causing the library not to load.
Ember 1.9 included an upgrade from Handlebars 1.0 to Handlebars 2.0, and Ember 1.10 replaced the templating library with HTMLBars. Because ember-charts packages pre-compiled templates in our dist files, it's not possible for us to support future versions of Ember while also continuing to support users of ember-charts who have not yet upgraded.
Our ideal strategy for dealing with this problem is to move to ember-cli, however we need a solution for the meantime and we need a solution that supports ember-charts users who are not on ember-cli and are planning to continue using our globals build.
@ebryn, @azirbel, @igillis and I have all discussed this and come up with the following strategy:
For users who are still on versions of Ember before 1.10, our recommended action is to upgrade as soon as possible. In the meantime, as new features and bugfixes are brought into the ember-charts library, it will remain possible to manually cherry-pick them and build your own dist files for older versions of Ember.
The documentation at https://github.com/Addepar/ember-charts/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#writing-code-in-ember-charts
References the src directory which contains the ember-charts source code but no src directory exists in the repo.
Hi there,
I would like to complete an action when a user clicks on a point in a scatter-plot. How can I get a reference to the clicked on point?
Thanks!
P.S. Further to this point, is there a way to set a scatterpoint as "selected" on rendering the graph? (i.e., just add a 'hovered' class to the point?)
I have scoured the docs and repo, but nowhere is it explained how to actually use ember charts. I did find the JSBin example which is the only reference to the use of {{vertical-bar-chart data=content}}
I could find. Is there actually documentation hiding somewhere that I could not find?
The only reference to "how to install" ember charts I could find is located in the repo's readme, but not on the website.
First of all, this is a great package. It has been super-helpful in getting my reporting site up and going.
Today, I upgraded my site from Ember 1.2 to 1.3.1. I'm now getting this error in my browser console when I run the working code I ran before to render charts:
Are there people working on getting ember-charts compatible with the latest Ember version? If so, any sense when it might be released?
Bryan
Currently, only D3 and Ember are listed as dependencies.
I'm working on a fix for this bug already, but filing it for tracking.
Apply this patch to master at 66e8bdf: https://gist.github.com/metathinker/0988ee203c237fae9bc8b8063ce71107
The patch changes the five_ranges
data set for the demo application by removing the following 2 data points, so bar group "Group Two" now lacks two bars that it previously had and that the other bar groups continue to have:
[{
"label": "Label 3",
"group": "Group Two",
"value": 150
}, {
"label": "Label 4",
"group": "Group Two",
"value": 160
}]
After applying the patch, open the demo app and navigate to the "Vertical Bar Chart" example, which shows five_ranges
by default.
The bar for "Group Two", "Label 5" should be the same color as the other bars for "Label 5", and the slice legend item for "Label 5". However, as per the below screenshots, it actually takes on the color for "Label 3" instead. (This problem also occurs when you enable stacked bars.)
When you mouse over "Label 5" in the bar legend, the bar for "Group Two", "Label 5" should be one of the highlighted bars. But it is not. In fact, as per the below screenshots, this bar is highlighted only when you mouse over "Label 3" instead. (This problem does not also occur when you enable stacked bars.)
