Potential Contribution

Hey whales, I would like to help make some different buildings. I have one that I think is ready. I've never done any submissions with github before so I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Is there any way to email you the file so you can tell me what its missing, or is there another way?

Memory leak

colorpairs=new pairs[50];

This seems to cause memory problems in the windows build. You have 64 pairs set up in color.h but only made space for 50 here.

Some improvement

I am a friend of Vipches who told me that he wish add a sign into Cataclysm2.

I don't know what problems happened, such as fonts problem.
Secondly,I found that the display area of Cataclysm2 can't adapt to the terminal's area.
Thirdly, I can't start game when I press N for new character due to the crash of your program.It displayed "Segmentation fault (core dumped)".

Body parts to monsters

Player can aim in specific bodypart. Zombie die, if got damage to head. If he got many damage to body - they broken in half and become crawling zombie, damage/lost of one leg - slow down, damage/lost both legs - crawling zombie etc. Other monster like gigant fly die easier (body/head hp=0 or bloodloss). Aslo head is hard to hit, but body is easy..
What are you think about it?

more hazardous liquids?

liquid nitrogen, liquid hydrogen, liquid steel,acid water, radiation Water, electric water, mutagen water, Can't assume what happen will you entering those water, wait you choose now, I know you may little busy, so I be wating will you done, also, do you planned to make any easted egg in this game? I remember I trade Jedi cloak on NPC in CDDA.

Some idea to deal with underground smoke

Smoke is one that really hard to remove,whatever is poisonous or radiation, but I think If underground or building have a air vents, so you can find the way to deal with those smoke, will be good idea right? assume you Invade enemy base by entering the vent, and later some smoke come get you, Is not that very stimulate? will you planned to make some stuff to see through the smoke? we already know we got gas masks already, but I think we can do better, also I want to know the undergound got Light source this time, right?

Separate values hunger and nutrition

DDA has a bug: if player frequently vomits he became starving as if he had not eaten a week. I think do it like unreal world: first value: food in stomach (0-empty 100-full), second value: nutrition (work as hunger more value - more starvation)
Each turn:
if (food>0) {
food--;
if (hunger>0) {hunger--;}
}
if vomit - food=0 and body lost some water.

Player spawning on the wrong landmass?

At times when starting a new game, I have found that i spawn on a tiny island, with no towns and such.

Perhaps it would be wise for the player to start at a randomly picked, pre defined location. Such as in a house, which is basically what cataclysm 1 did.

I gather that this is something that will come in time, but it's disappointing not being able to make it to civilization is general. (Perhaps I might find some leather jackets after all)

Not really an issue

How long until there's a stable build? Wanted to play this for a while now, but alas no Windows build either.

Debug options

Can you add debug-command to prevent monster-spawn?
It is very uncomfortable now to test the maps, especially if you find smoker, which freeze game with "range damage 0" message.

Skill.cpp

The switch case in Skill.cpp is gross.

Cannot move north east.

I have noted that after downloading and compiling the game, that I can move in all directions bar north east (pressing 9 on the numpad).

I have tried this with numpad lock on and off, but with no success.

Question about Inventory Item Handling?

Hey Whales, I'm really excited to see you working on this project. I noticed your working with the inventory handling and I figured now might be the best time to ask about this. In Cataclysm each Item is stored on the Player, so that if your fully loaded and your suddenly attacked, you have to drop each item individually in order to bring your encumbrance down. In Cata2 are you going to have each container track its contents so that you could for example, drop a fully loaded backpack, including its contents, in a single action to make yourself better able to melee?

Is there any way to create some monster or robot or vehicle?

If the player can create their own friendly will be a good idea, and you can edit you robot will different weapon and action, also what about the vehicle, still only a land vehicle? is there any sea vehicle or air vehicle? and what about the sky or the depths of the ocean, can we actual really diving in depths of the ocean? or have any submarine to do that work? oh! and one Important things! did this game support other language? can they type their own language in the game? such like russian, chinese, japanese ?

The game works slowly

I've just seen your cata2 and tried it, but it is really slow.
When I'm starting the game it takes up to 1.5-2 seconds to make one turn.
I'm playing from arch linux, using xfce4 terminal.
Maybe I'm missing something?
Maybe I could try fixing that? I'll need a bit of guidance:)

Any more specs/info needed?

UPD: The world map works fast, no lags at all.
UPD2: in 80x24 mode the game is fast, the problem is with fullscreen mode.

The issue on display system

From the pictures, I can know some part of map(when I press M) still show in game window after I press M again to exit map interface.
Another issue is about when i add --test flag to debug this game , I find after i spawn the monster and I teleport(using key M) to another position, the monster i spawned follow me to the new position.

Some item idea.

Make a jet pack to help people who falling on the pit or other place that trap them, diving gear and flipper to help people keep they breath and swin speed underwater, thermal vision goggles, you know what it does, Also I think you may make more binoculare, like night vision version, or see through wall someting like that, The X12 taser stun gun and taser, flamethrow that can install into gun,is near future, so it can exist, also I think you may need to change the transaction money into credit card, I mean, it already near future, so anyting can be litte advanced, you may wondering, why I doesn't call my freind to come here for help, well, they dont have very well english speaking, and others, eh, forgive my impoliteness, they think you may not finish the game, just like you did on the first one, so they don't believe you, I just wish this game release, I wait this game for a very long time for now, and I believe you can make it done, even I don't know how long it take., and will this game support mods on the future?

Ok, sir, don't get mad, I'd like to comment on you devblog, but I don't know how to, and will I send fan mail to you, it say I don't followed enough to doing that, and tweet is seen are banned in my country, so I can't use that either, anyway, thank for understand about my awful english speaking, I was thinking, if you can make liquid are little dynamic, like water can actually dryout if the temp are too high, or frosting if it too low, or flooding if it in a sealing place , also I think you may interest about chemical reaction, like you turn on the gas in the house and ignite it, same thing can happen on natural gas in the cave or something, I swear this is my last Issue on this month, I will make new Issus on other month, or you ready for it, That's all.

Did the vehicle's shape are safe this time?

Since I don't have cataclysm2 test version, I can help to find the CDDA glitch, and wish the cataclysm2 doesn't do the same, I want to talk about the vehicle on the CDDA, it have very big problem, the car's shape are distortion when it go oblique, and even the enemy can hit you with melee attack, that is very fake, also the vehicle doesn't protect people inside, the spit acid still hurt you feet, that is all I think, hope you can make better game, and I want to know, Is the vehicle can get in other vehicle for now? like you can drive the car enter the boat, then use the boat to transport?

Compiling on cygwin make; will spit errors if you don't change _TIME_H_ to something else, e.g.
_CATA_TIME_H_.

May I make some proposal?‏

First, Good to see you back in action again, I'm very interest about cataclysm 2, and I think I can make some proposal to help make better game play, you may need to make more way to dodge or block those range attack, like bullet or other things(like acid spit), this game have normal mutants and CBM people, so I think maybe you shouldn't only let CBM dodge those bullet, how about let the Mutants can use their power to dodge bullet or block it? or make someting like enegry shield or force shield to let the normal people block the bullet? that is what I thinking, this is near future right? you can make it right? hope you can see this email, thank you for all you have done.
