sophiapp's Issues

Empty recycle bin is grayed out

Prerequisites

  • Verify that this is not a Windows issue;
  • Refer to the System requirements;
  • I do not use a homebrew Windows image;
  • I did not tweak Windows before that could cause system instability;
  • Attach a created log. You may find it in the Logs folder.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. I used SophiApp for the first time.
  2. I disabled all diagnosis tasks in the privacy tab except for XblGameSaveTask
  3. I removed UWP apps that I didn't use like Phone Link, Help Center and such.

Expected behavior

I expected the program to work (which it did) and the parts of the system I didn't change to remain the same they were before executing the script, being it the "empty recycle bin" option working.

Actual behaviour

The "empty recycle bin" option that appears when right-clicking the bin is grayed out, although I can still enter it and remove the files inside of it manually. i'll update all the logs, but the problem should have started in the oldest ones, as the newer ones were in order to revert the changes made (except for the uninstalled apps) to see if that works and then turning the changes back on after seeing it didn't work.

Thank you

P.D: Also I have another "bug" inside the app that makes it crash each time I search for something, I don't know if that is a known bug and it doesn't concern me much, but I'll inform of it just in case.

Let SophiApp remember dialog size and position beyond exit

Your Idea

SophiApp does NOT remember its window size and position on desktop screen.

So users have always to do this manually after start.
This is unnecessary and annoying.

Can you make SophiApp remember size+pos beyond exit

Windows 11 taskbar internet/audio icon left click not working.

i did a fresh win 11 install, then ran SophiApp to remove/disable a bunch of stuff.

left clicking these 2 icons won't show the popup window.

i can't figure out what i did to break it. thought you guys might know. is this something SophiApp even has the ability to break?
maybe it's just a windows bug. if this probably wasn't caused by SophiApp feel free to just close the issue.

This is weird

I do not know what to think. After a fresh win10 install i just wanted to try new debloat scripts/apps and downloaded a couple new ones. First I ran the classic ShutUP10 and after I just wanted to see how/what the other ones do.
Windows10Debloater I opened first and made a custom list and closed it. That was it. After I opened SophiApp and showed me this message. How does it know in the first place and why does it cares. Did Windows10Debloater made a registry entry or placed a file somewhere and SophiApp is searching for it? Are this 2 apps are not compatible, fighting each other or the developers of this apps do not each other?
It is funny but at the same time I'm confused and do not know what to do now. I deleted both programs and after downloaded just SophiApp and run it and still it is popping the same message. Where are still files or trails of Windows10Debloater on my PC?

French translation

Your Idea

hi @farag2 ,

I made the French translation for SophiApp (v1.0.0.71) !

SophiApp French translation.zip

The French language having a lot of special symbols (é, ê, ë, î, à, ç, ù) I could notice on the first reading of the English translation that there were some html tags -"- and -&#174- so I asked myself the question of whether to include these tags in the French translation. Not knowing I made two versions: One with the normal text and the other with the tags of the special characters of French.

I hope I have made myself understood

Please include the translation!

EDIT : once the update of the app with the included translation is available, I will be able to see if I may need to improve the translation. :

What are the limitations between Home, Pro, and Enterprise in terms of what SophiApp can change?

Your Idea

I am coming from the context of windows 10 and other older tools to decrapify windows. It was historically the case that you could not decrapify much if you were stuck with Windows Home, and the best one was Enterprise because of group policy tweaks which are very powerful & resilient.

Is there a similar pattern with SophiApp? For example is there anything SophiApp can't do in Windows 11 Home, that it can do in Windows 11 Enterprise?

Furthermore (I don't know yet much about how SophiApp works), are there any things that MS might be able to bring back / reset via updates / backdoors etc, and undo any of the things SophiApp did? (do you need to re-run it periodically or does it run itself and keep its changes up?)

Perhaps clarifying some of these questions in the readme will help others.

Thanks!

I already had Allow Telemetry set to 0 - Security (Enterprise) in group policy. Was wondering what other changes were made and if it would clash with this setting. Thanks

Better headers

Your Idea

Currently headers have exactly the same font as its options. Even though headers have underline, still It is difficult to distinguish them from the options above. I suggest making headers bold and in-between 2 lines istead of just 1 underline.

Optional flag to disable warning screen

2022-01-22 21_37_14 SophiApp mJdIn

I know that it's important to prevent end users form damaging their system, but it would be nice to have a setting/flag to disable this check.

I have previously modified my installation (even though the tool listed on the banner is not the same I used), but reinstalling the OS to try this out is not really the best option, at least for me.

I am sure other users may have modified their install as well, so it'd be nice to have this option, even if it's behind a config or a big red warning.
