List of useful Quick Look plugins for developers
I download brew and run brew cask to get quicklook json, how can I run it? thanks
I'm using this software for svg images - i think i would make sense to include it on the list.
I like the QL plugin to preview various unprotected certificate tokens.
Currently includes support for X509 certificates, DER or PEM (ASCII-armored).

Maybe worth to add?
Run this in your terminal to allow text selection in the Quick Look window:
defaults write com.apple.finder QLEnableTextSelection -bool true && killall Finder
cannot support OS X El Capitan
Found somebody else who also wants it: http://www.simonecoen.com/2012/03/04/idea-for-quick-look-audio-plugin/
And another: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/22926/lightweight-audio-waveform-viewer
โฆ has moved to http://www.mothersruin.com/software/SuspiciousPackage/get.html
It's now both an app and a QL generator. Moving the generator on its own to ~/Library/QuickLook
won't work (at least on OS X 10.9 Mavericks), although the app works fine otherwise.
Could be useful for read subtitles.
Seems like a simple issue, but I'm not that familiar with homebrew. Is there just a problem with the quicklook-json plugin? Or is it my machine?
Error: Uh oh, could not identify primary container for '/Library/Caches/Homebrew/quicklook-json-latest.zip'
The Provisioning plugin is useful for iOS/Mac developers.
There's a brew cask for it called provisioning
.
It's possible to make text selectable in Quick Look previews.
Just need to enable a hidden Finder setting:
defaults write com.apple.finder QLEnableTextSelection -bool TRUE; killall Finder
But quick-look-plugins break this possibility...
Tested with OS X 10.9 and 10.10.
Or did I have an error installing quick-look-plugins?
Thanks!
Could be useful for Android developers/power users, still works good on 10.12.1
Hey,
so I tried installing this on OSX 10.11.6, it says it worked, if I try reinstalling it, it says it is already installed, however the files are not within /Library/QuickLook
and so it does not work.
However copying files manually into the folder works. But I would much rather install via casks, as it would allow for automatic updates.
Can you give me any tips how I can get it working? What information do you need?
The icons on the screenshot are missing.
After installing only
https://github.com/Nyx0uf/qlImageSize#installation
I was able to preview/view webp images already. The extra webp plugin is not needed anymore IMHO.
Thanks for your recommendation list! :)
I know there is a GIF plugin at source forge.
But it doesn't appear to be working on Yosemite, so I wish somebody could port it.

Hi,
I tested mostly all of these plugins (excepted for WebP and CertQuickLook) on my machine, which is running El Capitan. Here is some new information on some plugins, some of them might be outdated:
QLPrettyPatch: It does not seem to have any effect on the OS X default Quick Look preview. Last commit was made in 2013.
QuickLookCSV: The OS X default Quick Look preview seems to render it better. FYI, the last pull request for this package was made in 2014. Even though there is some personal opinion of mine into it, I tested on one file and here you can see the difference:
BetterZipQL: According to the developer's website
The BetterZip Quick Look generator has now been unified with and integrated into BetterZip. It's still completely free to use for everyone, only easier to install and update. Just download BetterZip, put it in your Applications folder and you are ready to go.
Though the standalone plugin works just fine, any mention of brew cask install betterzip
might not hurt.
ProvisionQL: The plugin works. However, the BetterZip Quick Look plugin is also able to render quick look previews of .ipa
files, with a lot more information in it.
Could someone confirm and/or discuss these findings ?
It'd be nice to run the simulator in the quick look for xcode projects, I realize this is a stretch.
Just created this Quicklook plugin to preview .gradle files. A quick way to check; android project version, target sdk, dependencies, package name.
https://github.com/Urucas/QLGradle
Useful for android devs.
Plugin for webp is not working on EI Capitan 10.11.6
Slightly tongue-in-cheek, but mostly serious here - it should be clear that the suspicious-package
cask is for checking out suspicious packages with quick look, and is not a suspicious package itself. Definitely did a double-take when seeing that package name in a long list of other casks.
Thanks for providing such a great resource!
consider adding:
brew cask install cert-quicklook provisionql
https://code.google.com/p/cert-quicklook/
https://github.com/ealeksandrov/ProvisionQL
I have tested cert-quicklook
myself and it works well.
First off, thanks for making this. It's fantastic!
Just wondering if there's an up-to-date flv quick look plugin for previewing flash videos. I found http://www.quicklookplugins.com/2007/12/02/flv/ but the download link there no longer works. Do you know if this exists anywhere else? Would you be interested in adding flv support here?
Thanks, and thanks again for this repo.
There are at least two ePub Quicklook plugins available:
Please add one of those.
Hi,
I think you can add https://github.com/Nyx0uf/qlImageSize to your list even if it's probably more useful for designers

Hey guys, great work on this compilation of awesome QuickLook plugins! Just wanted to give a shameless plug to my new QuickLook plugin: qlBitRate.
https://github.com/jordansaints/qlBitRate
qlBitRate is a QuickLook extension that adds the bit rate of audio files to the title of the OS X QuickLook preview window. qlBitRate currently supports MP3 files, with plans to add support for more filetypes in future iterations.
Thanks for your consideration!
Hello,
I can't install with brew cask install anymore. I have the following error:
/home/ocervell $ brew cask install qlcolorcode qlstephen qlmarkdown quicklook-json qlprettypatch quicklook-csv betterzipql qlimagesize webpquicklook suspicious-package
Error: Cask 'qlcolorcode' definition is invalid: Bad header line: parse failed
Hi, I'm the author of https://github.com/gradha/quicklook-rest-with-nim. You might want to add it to the lsit for basic reST support. There's however no brew install method, just zips with a binary.
This one worked for me: QLEnscript.
Cheers

I'm running Sierra.
qlImageSize works if I install from the developers page.

webp quicklook didn't work on some files for me; looks like there's a newer package:
https://github.com/emin/WebPQuickLook
that did work for me. Consider switching sources?
https://github.com/caskroom/homebrew-cask/blob/master/Casks/emin-webpquicklook.rb
As suggested in mathiasbynens/dotfiles#276 (comment), the referenced Quick Look plugins should be added to Homebrew Cask so they can easily be installed with Homebrew.
qlplugin relative path to a QuickLook plugin that should be linked into the ~/Library/QuickLook folder on installation
Any help with that appreciated :)
In Yosemite, (never happened for me in Mavericks) Finder crashes when quick look tries to open it (for example when in column view and going through the files)
Would you help to add an entry for quicklook-pfm?
Here is the plugin github address.
https://github.com/lnxbil/quicklook-pfm
Thanks.
