fibercompression's Issues

building qt 4.8, really needed?

Wikki says to build qt 4.8 on linux, which takes lots of time. I used the version on the repo, which works fine for building withotu any problem.
The wiki could say to prefer the version in the repo so the whole project builds in 2 minutes instead of hours that way.

Feature request: read VTK format streamlines

Hello-
The current version imports MRTrix TCK and TrackVis TRK format files. It would be great if one could import VTK format files, as this seems to be the most popular format across tools (DTI-TK, Fiber Navigator, Camino, MedInria).

Problem when max error <0.2

Hi

Thanks for this tool!
I have a problem with I try to set the maximum error to less than 0.2. The decompressed streamlines are "zig-zagging", see screenshot (blue: original streamlines; red: after compression+decompression). This problem doesn't occur when I set the maximum error to 0.2 or larger.
I am using MRtrix3 to create my streamlines.

SegFault when output folder doesn't exist

$ fibercompression in.tck /bad_folder/out.tck ...
Loading...
Linearization...
Saving...
Erreur de segmentation (SegFault)

It would be better if the program simply displayed a useful message and quit, instead of working for nothing and crashing.

Feature request: Compile command line version only

I struggled to install this software on OSX and CentOS due to the QT bindings in the gui project. One issue is that many brain imaging tools still use CentOS 6.6, which by default uses QT 4.6, rather than the required 4.8. Is it possible to have a simple make file that would simply compile the command line version of this software. That would allow easier compilation on a wide range of systems.

Correctly handle TRK format (as in trackvis)

Trk files should be handled to work correctly with trackvis.

This means:

  • correctly supporting the "trackvis space" (see Tractconverter + Nibabel).
  • keep scalars and properties.

Originally, @mdesco wrote: If I give input to FiberCompression a *.trk saved from Dipy as in the Gallery. The program executes in 0min and does not do anything.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bbohfcerdo5mp76/dipy_stem_L_streamlines10K.trk

e.g. fibercompression ~/Dropbox/dipy_stem_L_streamlines10K.trk bar.trk -e 0.1 -c -f

Probably due to a count of 0, which is valid in trk.
