it's possible to have the address bar that appears when you click on the arrow to see more addresses used?

Unable to save tabs

Hello,

I am not sure whether this is bug or a faulty setup of my system. When I open a page, do a right-click and select "Bookmark This Tab", a new window opens (Add a new bookmark, btw. why "bookmark" and not "tab") and I am able to choose between three options "Unsorted Bookmarks". "Bookmarks in Menu" or "Bookmarks in Toolbar".
It does not matter which one I select, the tab or bookmark is not saved.

In a terminal window the message
QSqlQuery::value: not positioned on a valid record
is displayed.

I am using qt4-4.7.4 and sqlite-3.6.23.

Thank you for your attention and for this wonderful browsing experience.

Offer "Open with" in download dialogue

Hello,

what would you think of offering an "open with" option in the download dialogue? If you try to download a "*.tar.bz2" file and select "open" in the download dialogue, qupzilla will open on my system a firefox window, that asks me what to do with file (open with or save as).

git version 2011-10-24: Unable to import firefox bookmarks

Hello,

I was trying to use the new feature "import bookmarks", but it failed. Guiding through the process works perfectly up the point from which to import. The import stops with the error message "file is encrypted or is not a database Unable to execute statement" - I do not have this even in the translation file.

Crash when selecting "open speeddial"

Hello,

I set the option Tools -> Preferences -> General -> Launching -> On new tab to "open speed dial" and applied. I have restarted QupZilla and selected "+" for opening a new tab and QupZilla crashes. This is the terminal output:

Usability: Close Window should not terminate QupZilla

Hello,

if only one window or instance of QupZilla is opened and you select File -> Close Window QupZilla will be terminated without any notice.

I think File -> Close Window should only be selectable in a second window, that has been opened with e.g. "Open link in a new window".

If only one window or instance of QupZilla is opened, this option should not be accessible (greyed out) or at least QupZilla should display a message, that it is going to terminate.

Crash when importing bookmarks from firefox #crash #ubuntu

I'm using QupZIlla 1.0.0-rc on kubuntu lucid 10.04, using a *.deb file found on qt-apps.org
the browser crashes when I try to import my bookmarks from firefox, selecting the file places.sql. It crashed twice while importing favicons, when it went up to 70% of the work. The third time i imported my bookmarks in the same way but i stopped the importation of favicons. the browser crashed again, but i had my bookmarks.

Sorry for the upsetting english

Shortcuts in main menu missing

Hello,

usually pressing e.g. ALT+F will open the file dialogue from the main menu -the same for ALT+E (Edit), ALT+H (History), etc. Whereas the submenus File -> ALT+N (New Window) offer shortcuts.

French translation

Hi, it's again me :D

A friend and me would like translate in french QupZilla.

Is somebody working on it? Are you interested?

Request: Bookmarks readable for Nepomuk and related services

In rekonq / konqueror one of the features I really enjoy is the ability to search for bookmarks outside the browser. Fire up krunner and type thus launching the browser and said site.

Would this be doable within the framework of the existing bookmark manager?

Import HTML bookmarks

Hello,

what would you think of adding an additional import capability for HTML bookmarks? Since most browsers support "export to html" this might help users of e.g. safari or chromium to switch to qupzilla. In addition this might be a suitable fallback, when problems with importing of the native browsers format occur.

Use the icon theme used by the user

Hello, again ;)

I use Kde and the icon theme of Qupzilla is different to my system, I think you use the faenza icon theme. I think this is why your icons as backward/forward are smaller than the rekonq icons.

Could you use a icon theme which is using by users, and, when an icon doesn't exist, use a default icon theme of the system?

I hope I will not bore you my suggestions, but I have great ambitions for your browser :D

Regards.

Search Engines

Hi, I went through the “Tools > Preferences” tabs, and also tried to right-click the search engine field, but I could not find out how to manage available search engines (delete, include, etc.). Is it possible yet?

"Show web inspector" actually toggles it

How to reproduce this strange behavior:

  1. start with no web inspector open
  2. right click in some page → "show web inspector"
  3. web inspector pops up
  4. right click again → "show web inspector"
  5. web inspector disappears, but the lower half of the window that contained it is still open
  6. right click once again → "show web inspector"
  7. web inspector shows back!

I'm not sure this is intended, personally I found it counterintuitive. :)
Perhaps it should be explicitly marked as a "toggle" option, and the inspector should pop up or completely disappear with that menu option.

bad slovak translation

make install

there is no (or I did not find any) method how to easy "make install" the app.

make install is standard and usually expected behavior... I know it's not easy to do it correctly with qmake but still it's expected ;)

Make uninstall does this.

make uninstall
Password:
rm -f "/usr/bin/qupzilla"
rmdir /usr/bin/
rmdir: rimozione di "/usr/bin/" non riuscita: Directory non vuota
make: [uninstall_target] Errore 1 (ignorato)
rm -f -r /usr/share/qupzilla/data
rm -f -r /usr/share/qupzilla/locale
rm -f -r /usr/share/qupzilla/themes
rmdir /usr/share/qupzilla/
rm -f -r /usr/share/applications
rm -f -r /usr/share/pixmaps
rmdir /usr/share/
rmdir: rimozione di "/usr/share/" non riuscita: Directory non vuota
make: [uninstall_target2] Errore 1 (ignorato)

Fix your uninstall code. Then try again. Fortunately pacman db is safe and i can restore dirs.

WebGL support

Thanks for this great browser, a really wonderful start. It is added to the repo's of the Chakra-project, and might become the default browser for this linux distribution.
One thing I did change though, is enable webgl for this build. Changed the code for this file:
https://github.com/nowrep/QupZilla/blob/master/src/app/qupzilla.cpp line 269
and added:
http://paste.kde.org/133219/
webgl works perfect with this (Chakra uses qt + a seperate build qtwebkit 2.2)

Hope fully this can be added to standard qupzilla.

Import Bookmarks feature

I tried importing using Chromium and Firefox following the wizard's directions.

In both cases the bookmarks look to get detected but the window gets stuck at some percent, and no matter how long I wait nothing happens.

I also tried using Rekonq's export feature. I tried export in Chromium and Firefox as well, but no luck detecting from there. In these cases the bookmarks are not detected at all and the wizard gets stuck at the beginning.

Usabilty: Inconsistency while opening tabs

Hello,

please try the following:

  1. Open QupZilla
  2. Open a new tab
  3. Enter "qupzilla" in search field and press enter
  4. google.com opens with a lot of search results
  5. Click on the first result (nowrep/qupZilla - GitHub)
  6. A new page is opened in the same tab
  7. Close this tab

Again

  1. Open a new tab
  2. Enter URL http://www.golem.de/
  3. In the first article about Steve Ballmer click on Microsoft (in blue letters)
  4. A new page is opened in a new tab

Why is the link openend in a new tab and not in the same?

  1. Go back to the tab with the article about Steve Ballmer
  2. Click on 39 Kommentare (in blue letters)
  3. A new page is opened in the same tab

Why is this link opened in the same tab?

Is there a configure option to tell QupZilla to open a link in the same or in a new tab?

Passwords are stored as plain text

It looks like browsedata.db contains all the password saved via the password manager in a plain text format. Moreover, the preferences window shows all of them, and without even asking for a master password or something like that. This means exposing the user's data to any occasional user of the machine... not good! :)

QupZilla crashes while uploading to Google Docs

Please try the following:

  1. Go to http://docs.google.com
  2. Login with your credentials (hope you have an account)
  3. On the left hand side select the symbol upload
  4. Select files
  5. Select a file to upload
    6 Enter upload
  6. QupZilla will crash

The error message is
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

in io/qiodevice.cpp

Please let me know, if you need addintional information, Then I will send you a gdb bt per mail.

Bookmarks missing

"After the update from 28 oct, qupzilla has several problems with the bookmarks that was working great in the last version. For example the bookmark toolbar don't show any bookmark, the imported markers from chromium don't appears in the Bookmarks sidebars and also in the Organize Bookmarks option, but the bookmarks still are accesible from the menú Bookmarks>Chrome Import"

As reported in the Chakra forums:

Is there already working someone on german translation? If not, I woul like to do this.

Feature request: Start page

Upon starting the browser and / or opening a new tab; would it be possible to show a list of frequent visited sites (Google Chrome-style) or dynamically changeable (Opera-style)?

Enhancement: Notify when link does not exist/ speeddial

Hello,

when you add a non-existing or misspelled link in SpeedDial a blank entry is displayed. It will be useful to let the user know, that the page does not eixts or is not accessible - maybe to add a warning icon in this case.

QupZilla does not remember SSL certificate exception

Hello,

please try the following:

Step 1. Start QupZilla
Step 2. On start page click on "About QupZilla"
Step 3. On the opened page "https://github.com/nowrep/QupZilla/wiki" click on "Issues"
Step 4. Click on an issue

If I proceed to the step 3 or sometimes 4 I receive the following error message:

SSL Certificate Error!

The page you trying to access has following errors in SSL Certificate:

  • Organization: ValiCert, Inc.
  • Domain Name: http://www.valicert.com/
  • Expiration Date: 00:19:54 Wednesday 26. June 2019
  • Error: The root certificate of the certificate chain is self-signed, and untrusted

Would you like to make exception for this certificate?

Step 5. Press Ok
Step 6. Close QupZilla

If I start again with step 1, the same error appears although I made an exception. Are you able to reproduce this behaviour?

I am using the git-version of 11-26-2011.

Use relative paths instead of absolute ones

When QupZilla is installed, say, in /usr but then moved to a different prefix, it will fail loading the icons (and, probably, other resource files). The ideal would be to try and detect the effective prefix at startup time, and not hardcoding it at compile time.

I might try to address this issue on my own when I have some spare time, but time is a resource which I somewhat lack lately, so I can't estimate if and when I will do it... :)

No .desktop file provided

Without a .desktop file, the Linux desktop environments will not be able to fully recognize QupZilla, and make it available in a "Open with" menu or as the default application for the text/html MIME type, for example.
I think it's important to add such a file, and to do it upstream, not on the Linux distribution side, so all can benefit from, say, new translations or important changes to it.

Website English

Hi,

This is not about the application itself, but about the website, http://qupzilla.co.cc/index.php

I was having a look at it and I noticed two things:

  • It says “Actual Version”. I think you used “actual” there because it is a false friend between English and your language (it is also a false friend between English and my two langauges). You should probably use "Current Version" instead.
  • In the technology section, there is some text in what I guess is your native language: “založený na jádře”. You might want to translate that into English :)

Nothing else. My congratulations for your project, and I’ll will look into contribution and maintaining a Galician (gl) translation.
