Which version of macOS are you on? For performance, OrbStack uses Rosetta to run x86 code on macOS 13, but macOS 12 doesn't support Rosetta for Linux and there's not currently a replacement included.
If you're on macOS 13 but don't have Rosetta installed and declined the installation during setup, you can turn it back on in Settings.

Ah, that would explain it. I am on MacOS 12. I'll look into upgrading and try again. Thanks!

Reopening because this is a good issue — running x86 on ARM is common enough that it should still be supported on macOS 12, even if it's not as fast.

Added a fallback for the next version. It's over 2x slower than Rosetta though (in my testing with a complex CPU-intensive Docker build), so I'd still recommend upgrading to macOS 13 for a better experience.
