Did @fjullien's patch help? I know that there's an additional bug lurking in the path detection. If the directory that is specified by cores_root or systems_root in fusesoc.conf contains files (i.e. not only directories), then you will get that error. This needs to be fixed
from fusesoc.
I pushed fixes for both issues
