anti-paywall's Issues

Suggestion - Reforma.com

Only Spanish site with a paywall(that I know of), would someone be kind enough to give this one a try?

Is there any way to make this extension work on Safari for iOS?

I'm just a layman. All I know is that it works on Chrome desktop version as an extension, and I know that these files don't work on iOS. But, just in case, is there any way to make this work on Safari for iOS?

Thanks a lot again for developing this wonderful extension.

Volkskrant

Sadly, Volkskrant.nl is not working. At least not in the Netherlands.

The Age not bypassed in Chrome

This was working in Firefox which I have had to uninstall, added the extension to Chrome and theage.com.au paywall is not being bypassed.

Create a whitelist feature

Create a whitelist feature to disable this add-on. I have noticed that when enabled you cannot log in to slashdot.org.

theaustralian.com.au

Can you disable the popup 'unlock full access' that comes up when premium articles are opened?
javascript:window.lightcase.close();

Probably not issue, just permissions heads-up

In case it goes unnoticed, Chrome interpreted 0.8 as needing increased permissions (read and change all your data on the web sites you visit), so it automatically and silently disabled the extension.

The script is geared toward only certain web sites though, so I'm not sure why it said that.

Installing it for the first time on Firefox Quantum requested similar permissions, though I don't know if it would do what's described above if I'd had it installed earlier.

Please add support for bostonglobe.com

Thanks for the extension. BG is a tricky one though, I think, and it's restricted to just one or two articles. This extension doesn't seem to affect it at all.

washington post

Doesn't currently work with the washingtonpost.com, which pops up a barrier past the top level page.
I believe it worked until recently.

Version 0.9.1 breaks The Times

Version 0.9.1 doesn't work on thetimes.co.uk. on either Chrome and Firefox.
I've gone back to version 0.9, which still works perfectly with both.

slows down firefox

Does what it says perfectly but Its slowing down Firefox noticeably on mine (Firefox 57.0.4). Still usable if i disable it for everything else.

Quora.com login

Looks to be impossible to login into (Chrome, Firefox) with this plugin enabled. If you try, essentially nothing happens. Eventually you'll get into a situation where the login form doesn't even display anymore, but clearing quora cookies fixes that, though you still can't login.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Quora.com even has a login requirement anymore to view posts (just if you want to post and do other things with your account). Like:
https://www.quora.com/What-will-happen-when-China’s-GDP-surpasses-the-US/answer/Godfree-Roberts

It used to be, at least several months ago, that unless you had a special link meant for sharing, you did have to login. So maybe there's no need for the site to be included in this extension now?

Add medium.com

lovely extension works well in chrome.. I wish there was a safari extension as that's my main browser on Mac

Please also add medium.com in paywall bypass

Thank you

Audio Distortion on NY Times

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install add-on on Firefox stable or Nightly
  2. Navigate to: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/25/us/politics/trump-roy-moore-mcconnell-alabama-senate.html

What happens:

The video that plays has a very bad distortion.

Expected result:

No distortion.

FWIW, when changing my browser UA to:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

using another add-on, I can reproduce the issue, so NYT may simply be serving up a bad stream given this UA. Hoping that there may be something that can be done to work around the issue, or at least logged as a known issue.

false firefox link

Thank you for this extension!

Just a small issue:
it should be something like "addons.mozilla.org/addon/anti-paywall" instead.
The addons.mozilla.org/developers/addon/anti-paywall link should be for developers only 😉
