3d-models's Issues

Rename pollination folder to hbJSON-sample-files

I think the folder for hbJSON files should be named similar to other folders and based on the filename. It's currently named as pollination but I think hbjson-sample-files is a better name.

I did not change the folder name as I think it will break all the links that are looking for the file under the current name. It will be good to rename the folder at some point though.

MIT vs GPL License

@theo-armour ,

I have a few models that I can contribute but I just wanted to make sure that I understood the intention behind the choice of an MIT license for this repo. I have both models of existing historic buildings that I could imagine fitting nicely with the MIT license but I also some personal models of designs that have been fleshed-out over the course of architecture school with the aid of Ladybug, which I could imagine fitting well with the Ladybug-web capabilities but maybe not so well with the MIT license.

Everything else in Ladybug+Honeybee is GPL and this has put me at ease knowing that the code cannot be copied into a proprietary package that could restrict someone else's access to the capabilities. Having a GPL license here could also put me (and I imagine some others) at ease knowing that our designs won't be copied into a proprietary package.

If I am correct in understanding that this repo is really only for historic buildings and for designs for which we really don't care about the right to access, then I will just contribute the historic buildings. Otherwise, let me know your thoughts on a GPL license for this repo.

Ladybug Web 3D Models Viewer

I have been gently pushing this effort around over the last few days. Too many small changes to write anything coherent about.

I believe things are beginning to settle down - at last. I hope in a day or two to ask you to have a look around. Of course you can look any time, but it may not be a good use of your time if lots of things change.

I do understand that the priority - here - relates to solar analysis and matter like that, but I feel certain that without some reasonable models and without effective navigation and editing tools that effort will not succeed.

BTW, I have also been working on 3D cartography. I am really looking forward to liming this work to the sun path algorithms.

Engel House - view from above

@mostaphaRoudsari @ayezioro @chriswmackey

If you don't hear from me then it's for one of three reasons:

  1. I There are too many cool things happening
  2. There are too many bad things happening
  3. I am working on something else

This time, thank goodness, it was a number 1.

Ladybug Web 3D Models

There's too much here to summarize quickly. For a quick overview have a look at the Ladybug Web AEC Gallery and the Engel House Gallery.

The tools are here to

  • Create comprehensive online engineering reports
  • View, edit and share 3D models
  • All code based on beginner JavaScript
  • All content - readme files and menus created using Markdown
  • Everything can be styled to fit into your current standards/style

There's cleaning up to do, documentation to write and more examples to create. But the main thing is to start using these scripts to create some Sun path diagrams. At last.
