I also verified the javassist I have in my environment, Its javassist 3.9 GA. Looks like JAVASSIST-241 is not fully fixed yet.

@chibash never mind , the issue got resolved after applying https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JASSIST-241 on top of 2.19-GA. I'm closing this.

@aliab01 I'm also facing the same java.lang.VerifyError error when I'm using CtMethod.insertAfter method to modify one of the methods in my java web application. I have read the link you have posted in your last comment but still I have no clue on how I can modify the insertAfter method to work properly. Can you assist me on this?

I learned that if we use insertAfter with the 'redundant' parameter as mentioned in the documentation this issue doesn't occur. I resolved this

by changing

    ctBehavior.insertAfter(exit, true, true);

to

  ctBehavior.insertAfter(exit, true, ctClass.isKotlin());
