rthe vice versa part - is on the roadmap - but actually i never had time implementing it.
seems priority has gone up. give me some time - will try to get my hands on it tomorrow.

done in version 0.0.5 you can
i18next-conv -l en -s ./locales/en.translation.json -t ./locales/en/translation.mo (or .po)
to convert i18next json to gettext files
hopefully it works correct. would be thankful for feedback if you encounter an issue.
