moreoverlays's Issues

Item Search keybinding disables bound key in chat

Whatever key is bound to the Enable/Disable Item Search option disables the bound key in chat. I discovered this just this afternoon when I couldn't type 'Z' after installing the mod.

I did some testing and can confirm that it only happens to this specific binding (the other two bindings don't affect chat even if you pick letters or numbers) and this happens to ANY letter bound to the Item Search option. I changed it to A and was suddenly unable to type A in chat while I could type Z just fine.

Minecraft 1.9
Forge 12.16.0.1854
MoreOverlays 0.6

Downgrade forge dependency to recommended version

Build mod with recommended version of forge and not with latest or randomly chosen. Sticking to recommended version impoves compatibility with modpacks and spongeforge, which builds itself only with recommended versions.

Current recommended version for mc 1.12.2 is 14.23.4.2705.

Gamma mod Idea's & suggestions

Notify the player then the mod is turned on & off from the key bind via a message, that way you don't have to check by removing lights, torch to check. This message could be displayed then the mod is toggled & have the message be sent via chat, or the toast message bar that a then sleeping in bed would use or using the code similar to what the mod step up does. And other option in configs or key bind that then changing the display from yellow & red x's, too the # version of the render. If any one else has some suggestions i didn't think of please do comment on this, I was hoping to go though a lot of mods I use and suggest a few things & tweaks.

[1.9 Client crash] When opening inv/jei

Forge: 1887
MoreOverlays: 1.3-mc1.9
JEI: 1.9-3.3.3.197
Full crash report here: http://pastebin.com/T9Vqqjsj

After updating to the latest version of MoreOverlays i wasn't unable to open my inventory without a client crash to desktop. After reverting back to version: moreoverlays-1.2-mc1.9 with forge 1887 seems to work fine again. Will let you know if i run into any more issues.

Great mod idea btw. Very useful. Keep up the good work.

Crash report: what is cuasing this ?

Mine craft version: 1.11.2

Forge version w/ lite loader mix in's: 13.20.0.2315

I seems to be getting a crash with one of the health and info mods , but i am not sure what is doing it.

crash-2017-06-14_20.03.10-client.txt

The 3-4 mods i use for info on screen and health are, neat, moreoverlays , torohealth damage indictors , jei , wailla, wawla, hwyla. It seems to happen then im looking at a mob and looking down left or down right if it , it would lag for a sec and crash to launcher. thank for you time if you can help me figure what is doing this.

Shader Compatibility

None of the overlay features work when any shader packs are being used. Tested with Sildur/MrMeeps. Not sure if you need anything from me but just let me know if you do.

[Suggestion] Overlay for recently updated chunks

This would be incredibly useful when debugging chunk update issues, you could have it render with the standard boundary view or have it separate, with the former simply adding a number to the yellow center line as to how many updates in the past 5 seconds would suffice.

Search in nearby inventories keybind

MC 1.10.2
Forge 2281
MoreOverlays 1.11

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the press T in JEI to search in nearby inventories is something your mod adds, right? But I can't find a keybind for that. Not sure if there is an option to turn that off, but even if there was, I want to leave it in the pack but just give players to turn that off by deleting the key in the keybinds. So could you please consider adding a keybind for that feature in the controls?

Can't toggle light overlay on server (mod useless in multiplayer)

Minecraft: 1.12.2
Forge: 14.23.3.2669
JEI: 1.12.2-4.8.5.159
MoreOverlay: 1.13-mc1.12.1
Keybinds: F7 (not working on any key)
Mode: Multiplayer (mods installed on server as well, same versions)

Chunk boundaries is working but not light overlay. Work in singleplayer but not in multiplayer, except if you first open one of your singleplayer world since you open the game.

Workaround: go to singleplayer, toggle on light overlay and then go to multiplayer, you can now toggle light overlay as normal until you close and re-open the game.

Chunk Border lines stuck

I have a current issue where the red lines that marks the borders wont go away.
If I press F9, they become thicker, as there's now 2 red lines on top of each other, and the yellow line appears
If I press F9 again, then chunk border walls come.
If I press F9 again, it's back to just the red lines.

F3+G makes the blue lines purple.

It started a few days ago, and I'm not sure how, or exactly when, but it's starting to be annoying

Item Search does not support subtypes

Context:

Using the item search, it fails to differentiate between items with different NBT.

In this case, I'm attempting to search for a "slime seed" but highlights 2 seeds in my inventory which are not slime seeds but use the same base item. For cases like this, the mod registers a JEI subtype interpreter to handle the item properly for recipe lookups.

Suggestion - 'Assassins Creed' chunk borders

Heya - love your mod - its become staple in the mod packs that I see and play.

We especially use this mod nowdays with heavier and heavier packs like FoolCraft which machines and conduit mods that get twitchy crossing chunk borders and loading out of order.

Assassins Creed has a concept of 'out of bounds' which shows as a transparent wall which is apparent only as you approach it.

I think it would be very useful to know the borders of the chunks not just the corners. Just showing a faintly tinted transparent wall that increases in opacity as you approach 2m to 0m (still very transparent even when right up next to it).

We have some very inexperienced players who are crashing my game world due to conduits crossing chunks, and they understand the "red Xs on the ground" concept, and I this would be a huge boon.

I have looked at your code briefly, and think it might be "fairly easy" to arrange using the existing rendering data? In theory its just connecting the corners, and a simple distance-opacity calculation. I'm not sure how happy you would be with someone tinkering, even in an offline-only way.

Support for searching for specific enchants on books.

Hey me and a few buddies use this on an SMP server and are loving yur mod! But one problem is that one of our members has an enchantment shop where they sell enchantment books. and sadly you cannot search for specific books with specific enchantments like you can in the JEI interface. Is there any plans on adding the ability to search for books with specific enchants within chests? It would be much appreciated if this feature were to be added!

Cubic Chunks compatibility

On any nonstandard world with terrain generation below Y=0, such as Cubic Chunks, light levels work fine but no Xs appear when MoreOverlays is toggled on. It does function at Y>0, even Y>255 and beyond.

This was not reported earlier because my CC testing involved many other mods as well, some of which seem to play havoc with light overlays.

Using MC 1.11.2, various Forges up to 2386, MoreOverlays 1.10-1.12 and various Cubic Chunks builds from 591 to 685.

Jei crash w/ more over lays report: what is cuasing it to crash ?

mine craft version: 1.11.2

forge version: 13.20.0.0.2314

Jei version: 4.5.0287

Other mod ran with to debug what was possible crashing it , jei , jer (just enough resources) , block drops ,(jei addon) , hwyla more overlays (shows light lvls ) , waila harvestability , wawla ( what are w looking at )

My guess is jei , block drops , and / or more over lays is causing this but wasn't sure if it was on your or there side this time.

Highlight item is highlighting all items in inventory

Having an issue where the highlight item function only sometimes works. Searching for 'comb' for example will highlight all items until the 'b' is typed, while a search for 'spider' highlights all items, not just the spider eye:

Optional Additional Light Level Indication Colors/Ranges

Hey, Just wondering if there would be room for a feature request? This mod is great and i love it a lot as is. However, i would love to be able to configure another color, say blue, for a range i need to put a torch while mining.

For instance:

  • When i mine, i put a torch above me at block light level 3.
  • This provides me with a perfect ...9889... pattern in my mines
  • It also provides a directional system to point me to my base if i get turned around.

Currently I have to count the 4 blocks from 7-3. This is an improvement from enabling F3 debug which i am glad to get away from, but it would be perfect if i could specify another color and range to light up specifically for torch placement. I would also like to keep the red indication from 7-0, I would just like light level 3 to light up blue. I know how to adjust the settings to light up 3-0 as red, but then i loose the original utility of this mod.

I see the settings looking like:

  • Optional Indication Color: [Blue, Orange, Pink, White, ...] (your decision on what and how many colors)
  • Optional Indication Range: 3 (i.e. 3 or 3-0 or 3,6,8)

I have no idea how difficult it would be to have overlapping ranges and priority, let alone input that is not a contiguous group.

I am assuming that the optional ranges would be higher priority and the pre-set 'Sky0_Red_7-0' would be ever-present and secondary. I would also assume that the optional ranges would only display in the current conditions and not modify the current yellow night prediction settings, unless someone else is interested in modifying the yellow indications.

Thank you for this mod and all the work to develop and update.
