At first - many thanks for your good work!

But i've problem with sound. No (or maybe very very low level) sound goes from MBA microphone to iPhone when i install this tool. Microphone works fine for other usages, ie. for dictation, very well still. But only for talking from MBA to iPhone and to somebody on other side does work. I can hear my party without problem.

When i install 10.10.1 beta, sound start working for hangoff, but i lose Continuity. Im afraid, when i reinstall Continuity Tool i get no sound to iPhone again ...

I know that the wireless card of the 2009 MBP has 2 antenna connectors whereas the newer BLE/WiFi cards have 3 antenna connectors, but that doesn't mean we cannot find any solution.

I know its possible to launch the script from here Continuity Activation Tool.app/Contents/MacOS/contitool.sh but I work as a standard user with no admin rights and launching the app tries to gain sudo rights for the user which has to fail ;)

a simple check if the user is in the group of admins and else a prompt for a valid admin user would be nice!

ALMOST DONE! After rebooting:
1) Make sure that both your Mac and iOS device have Bluetooth turned on, and are on the same Wi-Fi network.
2) On OS X go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES> GENERAL> and ENABLE HANDOFF.

You might update Continuity Activation Tool and MacRumors Handoff tutorial with some new information I just found. For some reason my Mac mini (Mid 2011) was loading probably older com.apple.driver.AirPort.Brcm4331 AirPortBrcm4331.kext as an AirPort driver. Whitelisting the Mac board-id in the AirPortBrcm4360.kext have no effect on Handoff. When I found this using

$ kextstat | grep -i airport

I immediately moved /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortBrcm4331.kext/Contents/MacOS/AirPortBrcm4331 to same directory but different file name AirPortBrcm4331.orig, updated kextcache and rebooted. After that modified AirPortBrcm4360 was loaded and Handoff started to work.

I suggest you provide some checking in the Continuity Activation Tool tool which driver is currently used for AirPort and deactivate older kext if necessary. Maybe you can also update the manual steps in the tutorial...

Let me know if there is anyone who maybe let you know that AirPortBrcm4360 modification has no effect in his setup...

When running

• System Diagnostic (2) first from the menu
• Then the Activate Continuity (1)

then the activation fails with many error messages, and the two kext bundles in /System/Library/Extensions are empty, with a copy in ~/KextsBackup . This needs to be manually fixed and the permissions restored.

I circumvented this problem by running the whole script with

sudo ./contitool.sh

Thanks a lot guys for this tool, but since I updated my mac with it, the wifi keeps disconnecting every 5 min..... How can I solve that ?

i installed the tool by acident and now the MacBook doesn't boot

In v . 1.0.2 my macbook air mid 2011 worked perfectly after the upgrade to v . 1.1.1, AirDrop does not work on my iPhone 5s and has a lot of instability on iOS 8.1 and OS X 10.10 also.
Can I go back to v. 1.0.2 ? Unfortunately I don't have more this file. Is possible do you help me ?

On my late 2011 15" Macbook Pro, it seemed to be instantly working (wifi worked, bluetooth detects bluetooth devices) without running the CAT tool yet.

But when I want to pair to a bluetooth device, the pairing process gets interrupted pretty fast causing me to not be able to pair with my iPhone 5 or Apple wireless keyboard.

Even after running the CAT tool, I still have this issue. Any suggestions on where I should check or what to do to fix this problem?

I was able to successfully transfer a picture using Airdrop from my mac to my iPhone (doesn't need pairing for Airdrop to work). This seems to indicate that the bluetooth 4 really is working.

I have been hung up on "Fixing disk permissions" for appx 15 minutes. It says ~5min wait. How long should I wait, and what will happen if I close terminal?

i'm using the patch with my MacBook Air Mid 2011. I tried the following directions:

Airdrop from Macbook Air to newer Macbook Pro: Works
Airdrop from newer Macbook to Macbook Air: Works
Airdrop from Macbook Air to iPhone 5s/6pro: Works
Airdrop from iPhone 5s/6pro to Macbook Air: Doesn't work.
In this case the Macbook Air is set to "discoverable from all devices" but actually it is not discovered by the iPhone which wants to send a file.

I believe that I saw MBA Late 2010 in the table in the main page which says Handoff is possible with card upgrade a few days ago but it's magically gone from the table when I checked it just now.

I'm aware that minor tweaks will be required as the card (BCM94360CS2) sized up a bit longer than the original card and the antenna cable will need to be clipped off from the screws' bracket, but I don't really mind as long as Handoff is working with BCM94360CS2.

I hope someone can elaborate in this matter as me myself have already ordered the card and am waiting for it to arrive. I hope that my purchase won't go to waste.

Hey guys, great job on the tool! It works great for me (iPhone 6+, mid 2011 MacBook Air)

The only thing that does not work is the SMS forwarding. When I toggle the switch on my phone, no message appears on my mac.

When launching the app, I am prompted with the following:

You must run this script with admin privileges, please enter your password.

The script does not allow me to enter my password however. I have added the app in 'security and privacy' to allow control no no avail.

thank you for this tool. I have tried it but it does not work with my mid-2011 MacBook Air. Nothing changes once the patch has been applied. All indicators are "OK" in the tool.

I think the reason is the use of a different WiFi driver: here is the result of the command "kextstat | grep Brcm":

at the end of the diagnostic, and even after a restart this appeared: "NOT OK. OS is protected against kext changes. Please reboot to fix this, then relaunch the script." Also Bluetooth says not Ok as it's version 4 instead of 6?

When I ran the diagnostic I was expecting for the tool just to check my compatibility with the tweak and report to me what changes were needed to make it work.

However, the utility made me reboot my system and changing some settings (boot-args, I suppose). This change made my graphic switch glitch an I ended up needing t do a NVRAM reset to solve the issue.

Installed latest version. Hand-off works partially. Two issues:

• Mac Mini mid 2011 and iPhone 5s will not pair via Bluetooth
• Continuity still works with an email and it goes straight to iPhone. However if it is a webpage on Safari. WiFi does not work on phone and will not bring up the page.

Safari works on phone when wi-fi is disabled, but of course continuity does not work.

No idea why, but this line "tput setab 0"
#717 in contitool.sh makes a black terminal screen, at least in my shell.

Commenting this out helped to use the tool.

This is the error. It says reboot to automatically fix but after reboot still gives the same error.

Yesterday after installing the BT 4.0 card and using the app the first looks and feels where great al new features work.

After having played with these new features i started doing regular internet browsing, then is discovered my safari get sort of idle after a little while. I refuses to open websites or really takes long to open them.

Weird part is that some website are really quick. Facebook for example is working every time, but when i click on a google search result or any link from Facebook to a other website is becomes this kind of idle or really really slow.

After downloading i had same result with google chrome. its not the internet or its connection as i checked with my ipad an iphone.

I want to enable Continuity on a 21.5" mid-2011 iMac. I have the BCM94360CD + adapter and swap out instructions from iFixit. How do I hook up the small black wires to the new card? The adapter makes them backwards and the numbers on the connectors are different.

Also, I was able to upgrade my early-2011 MacBook Pro using your Continuity Activation Tool and it works great! Thanks for all your help!

I installed the latest version of CAT on my mid-11 Air, ran it and got the message that I need to reinstall my kext files (which had problems from previous tinkering). OK, done.

Then I ran CAT and got the message that my system should be compatible with Continuity. Except there is no option for Handoff in my system preferences.

System report shows continuity and handoff are not supported,

I have no option to activate continuity/handoff in my system preferences>general.

All of the features of the Continuity Activation Tool are working as they should, Handoff, Airdrop, etc. The issue I am having not being able to connect to the Internet provided from my router. I can't load any external webpages through Safari.

Who can help, what do I need to do to fix the WiFi to allow it to work properly again?

i have a 2011 mid Mac mini. I used the latest activation tool and found continuity works, but only when the bluetooth preference is opened.

I figured by opening the preference, it only makes the mac discoverable. So i changed the bluetooth plist, and restarted. Nothing changed, still only works with the condition.
