ftj's Issues

Unable to Join Majority of Games

I'm running OS X 10.6.8, and the latest version of Desperate Gods (from the Wolfire CDN) on a Late 2007 MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM.

I am unable to join most other network games, and when I create a game, my friends (on Windows computers) are unable to join. In those cases, the password prompt is not even displayed, and the game sits at the "joining" screen indefinitely. Same result on either Windows or OS X.

I cannot find a direct answer as to the cause of -- or solution to -- this problem. I just see some vague mentions of "server incompatibility" as a cause and "open port 25000" as a proposed solution, neither of which is particularly helpful.

For the record, I opened port 25000 for TCP and UDP n my router's built-in firewall, and it didn't help.

Restart game button badly needs a confirmation dialog

I've just got a game of 30 minutes cleared accidentally after a friend of mine tried to reconnect to the server and hit the wrong button - this, of course, wouldn't be able to happen if the game asked the player if he really wanted to restart the game. Perhaps all players on the servers could be asked if they want to clear the board, making it effectively voting.

Wrong keyboard layout

I'm using windows 7 64 bit.
I am using a brazilian abnt2 keyboard that works as expected in windows. But in the game, when I press "?" to see the help, nothing happens. Instead, the key ";" shows the help.

I suppose the game is not picking up my system keyboard layout.

After time, game seems to build lag.

My friends and myself played a long (2h21m) game earlier, and near the end, both client players seemed to have a delay, in one player's case up to 5 minutes, in movements of cards and pieces, rendering the game unplayable. The server was unaffected by this, and could see all client's movements instantly. The client players, however, could not see their movements until their game "caught up" to the point where they submitted their movements. Resetting the board did not remove this issue.

picking up cards

I played a very long game with my friend. After a while we noticed that a lot of what we were doing was arranging cards.
A usability improvement would be:
left mouse click - pick one card
right mouse click - pick the whole deck
So its very clear what you are going to do.
Or maybe, besides right clicking, click a button (like Ctrl or something) while left clicking to get the whole deck.

End Game, Game Balance And Win Conditions

I believe the developer said that this game will have over a hundred monsters? (or a hundred cards, etc.)

I've found that this game lasts a long time, and that the end game condition (no monsters left) is a bit anticlimactic.

What if there was a "big boss" at the bottom of the dungeon, and the players actually have to fight that specific boss? That would give a bigger, more story-ish goal other than points.

This seems like one of the house rules you mentioned. Why not use this repo's build in wiki to list some of the possible house rules?

Exit button

When playing the game in full-screen there is no way of closing it in the interface. You have to do Alt+F4 or Alt+Tab and then right click in the task bar to close it.

Win7 64bit

Graphical glich after alt+tab

Im playing in win7 64bit (until there is a Linux version)
When you open the game in fullscreen and then alt+tab (I did that to see the rules in the .txt) you can not see the content of the cards anymore.

Show player name below cursor

It's difficult to determine which cursor belongs to each player. I think showing the player's name beneath their cursor would allow players to be identified more easily.

A couple of issues with the rules?

First, I noticed that a few of the equipment cards reference spells, but I haven't seen any of them. Are they in there?

Second, I noticed that a lot of the cards seem to specify rerolling one die. Are we supposed to use multiple dice for combat?

Thanks. Also, amazingly good despite the couple of points of confusion I have.

I have problems

well I not long got the game for mac when I was playing a game I sudden appeared at the title screen and since then I have been unable to connect to any games it just says it's connecting but I could sit for 20 mins without anything happening and I tried reinstalling and that did no good... please help, I love this game :S
