Wendy Zhu needs to move to the end of the alphabetical list
On wiki pages on the OSF, I can view diffs between versions, but not old versions of pates. The wiki addon's routes.py
would indicate that the same url, but with compare
replaced with version
, would serve the a particular version, but the request doesn't resolve.
When contracting the width of the about_team page, right before the 4 wide images shift to a single column arrangement, the individual images will squeeze without maintaining proportions. Need to fix how this page responds.
I know certificates are a problem for all these days, this is my browsers complaint when checking the website:
Technical Details
centerforopenscience.org uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names: www.osf.io , osf.io (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)
Developers, journals, grants, scientists, and APS .mako all have "home" set to active in the navbar. They should, instead, have "about us" as the active item.

Here is an idea for organizing and promoting the open collaborations that we support and maintain. One of the goal with the community part of our mission is to have our activities extend well beyond the COS staff. The more that "our" projects are actually developed by the broader community, the more likely they are to have impact. We can help the projects thrive by providing resources, coordinating, documenting, providing leadership, and maintaining the administrative elements.
A couple metrics of success on these goals are (a) the number of active community projects, (b) the number of active members on those community projects, (c) some indication of the extent to which the projects are "self-sustaining" - i.e., not entirely dependent on COS staff to make progress, and (d) the actual progress of each project in meeting its objectives.
We can improve the ease with which community members can discover the projects we support and get involved with COS projects with some improved branding and organization. Here is a simple idea:
Brand: COS Communities
COS Communities are collaborations supported by COS to create and maintain free and open products or services.
On http://cos.io/ we have "COS Communities" as an option under About us on top menu and in the community section under "What We Work On" in place of the Open Science Collaboration.
On http://osf.io/ we have "COS Communities" in the footer changing "Socialize" to "Get Involved" and having a link to "COS Communities" and then the links to twitter, fb, etc below it.
On the COS Communities page (under COS domain), we have a list of the communities with a one or two sentence description and link to expanded information with how to get involved. Starter list:
-Badges to acknowledge open practices
-Registered Reports
-Open Source/Open Science software projects
-CREP
-Open Science Collaboration Discussion Group
-RPP
-RPCB
-Many Labs 2
-Many Labs 3
-Crowdstorming a Dataset
And, below that there would be a similar list noting the projects completed by COS Communities. Starter list:
-Many Labs 1
-Chapter: Maximizing Reproducibility of Your Research
-Article: RPP
-Chapter: crowdsourcing reproducibility, RPP
Then at the bottom, we'd have links to other groups that are promoting or supporting open science communities:
-Mozilla Science
-OKFN
also remove "development" from the title "infrastructure development"

COS occasionally invites grant proposals to increase the openness, integrity, and reproducibility of scientific research. Proposals can aim to (1) create or connect open science infrastructure, (2) enable or incentivize new practices by scientists, societies, journals, funders, libraries, or other stakeholders in science, or (3) conduct metascience research with implications for improving scientific practices. Project proposals are solutions-oriented. COS does not fund meetings to write more academic papers suggesting that someone should do something. COS funds the projects by the someone that does the something. Find out more."

The Center for Open Science (http://centerforopenscience.org) is a funded non-profit startup looking for OSS developers who are passionate about modern web and API practices (and, ideally, science) with expertise across the web development stack. Open source has changed how software development works, and we want to apply the same principles to the sciences. Everything we develop is exclusively free and open source (http://github.com/CenterForOpenScience).
COS is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, and encourages applications from women and minority developers.
Pictures and details for each team member load very slowly, especially bad on slower network connections. Need to work on optimizing.
There are some new people still to add to "Our Team" and there are a couple that are now alumni (i.e., finished with internship and not likely to continue in the future). Shall we just remove the latter, or establish an alumni list somewhere?
In OSF section, remove the link to the 3-minute video on the OSF (it's from 2012). Replace with link to OSF Getting Started: https://osf.io/getting-started/
Currently reads: "Want more info? Visit the OSF feature page, watch the 3-minute overview, review the introductory material, or sign up and get started. You can also talk to a human."
Tweaks: "Want more info? Visit the OSF feature page, watch the getting started videos, or sign up and begin using the OSF. You can also talk to a human."
We should also encourage all team members to add whatever contacts they wish to include, and update the list to include new staff asap.

Doesn't seem to flow naturally, perhaps this instead:

OPENNESS,
INTEGRITY,
AND REPRODUCIBILITY
OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH"
Currently reads: "The Open Science Collaboration is an interdisciplinary group of individuals operating through the Open Science Framework."
"Learn more or get involved at the Open Science Collaboration OSF page, visit the OSC blog, or join the Google Group conversation."
Tweak: ""The Open Science Collaboration (OSC) is an interdisciplinary group of individuals operating through the Open Science Framework."

Even if we don't have our own donation system set-up, it could go to the giving library page: https://www.givinglibrary.org/organizations/center-for-open-science
Or to a static page about contacting us for donations.

The Center for Open Science (centerforopenscience.org) has a unique work environment for extremely talented developers: [1] we develop exclusively free, open source software; [2] we are a well-resourced, mission-driven, non-profit tech start-up; and, [3] we serve and support the open source and open science communities.
This is a great job for many and a perfect job for a few. The perfect candidate is the person already doing open source in their free time while wishing that they could make a living doing it all the time. We need to find these people; you can help. COS encourages women and minority developers to apply.
If you know someone who lives and breathes open source and is passionate about collaboration, sharing, science, and making a difference, then encourage them to apply at centerforopenscience.org/jobs. If we hire that person, we will send you a check for $1,000.
This is not an invitation to spam others on our behalf. Reach out to developers you know personally, or tweet and post our link to your social communities. We will ask applicants how they found about the position when they apply.

On the homepage, the blue banner is not always the correct height. It should be 375px but sometimes it is 351px. This means that the text is not positioned properly within the banner, it buts up against the bottom. If you resize the window, the height adjusts correctly, however.
Same problem as about_team page, some of the images from around Charlottesville are too large for this page. Please check to see that all are appropriate dimensions and resolution (72dpi).
BITSS job posting presently says: "platform created by the Center for Open Science at the University of Virginia". UVA reference should be removed.

Needs to cover our funders and those who have donated funds or resources to us. Also would like to indicate activities that we sponsor.
Drop "The Disclosure committee maintains best practices for disclosure standards across disciplines, assists with integration of disclosure practices into publishing workflows, and tracks use of disclosure standards by journals." from the Disclosure Standards section. No committee exists yet.
Also, drop "and Checklists" from the title because Checklists are the next item.
