To be able to install it on ubuntu, I unpacked the zip file and zipped all the files under blenderStairs-master on a zip file (i.e. blenderStairs.zip), then the install through the preferences are working as expected.
BTW, thanks a lot for your plugin blackears !

What error messages are you getting in the console? I'm using 2.93.0 on Windows and it is working.

I'm afraid I don't know how to handle that. Does it work with other versions of Blender?

I've just tried it on 2.93.2 for Windows, and it is working fine. I don't have a Ubuntu machine, so I can't test on that. You might want to check your directory permissions to make sure it isn't that or download a different version of Blender to see if it works on that (ie, run a copy of Blender from a user directory. If it works in that case, the problem may have something to do with how your 'main' version is installed.) Are you an administrator of your machine, or just have a user account?

Hello, So i am also trying to install this on Blender 2.93.2 and when I point it to the zip file I do not get any further prompts like what is described above.
It just closes the file directory window and this prompt pops up in the console.

That looks like it installed correctly. When you go to the 3d viewport and open the Add/Mesh menu, is the stairs addon not listed there?

I'm new to the blender add ons so sorry if I'm looking in the wrong place:
from blenderstairs.
That's where it should be. I'd recommend looking in the c:\users\mcnei\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.93\scripts\addons directory to make sure it's there (if not, you can unzip the downloaded file directly into the directory). Also try opening Edit/Preferences, go to the Addons tab and 'stairs' into the search box. The plugin should be listed there under Add Mesh: Stairs mesh Generator. Make sure it is checked. If it's not listed there, that means Blender can't find it for some reason.

This solved it for me too, thanks!
