Have you tried cleaning the solution and building again?

As for splitting xrGame its possible but given the complexity and all the inter dependencies it will be a project of its own and definitely not worth the effort. You will spend a lot more time on implementation than you would ever spend on compiling it as is. It will only make sense for large teams working on AAA games. Think about it - even GSC didn't do it although they were well aware of this beast :)

BTW - my xrGame.pdb is only 318MB so i don't think size is the issue here

Thanks, after some unsuccessful try, a simple Clean + Build solution made it somehow, now xrGame was builded fine.

My intermediate folder was 3.8 GB sized, when the linker crashed, now intermediate folder is only 3.1 GB...
My xrGame.pdb is 824 MB, and I'm using the "working" branch.

Now it's sure, that linker goes out of memory. I successfully builded every engine binary, then i used modified xrGame c++ code. I builded again, and in the end, the linker dropped a very straightforward "out of memory" message at the end. Looks like every time i modify just a little on the code, i have to clean+build the full solution again. It's a pain to be on a 32 bit windows.
