A Homebridge plugin to control GEMS Smart LED Light Bulbs. It was created by reverse engineering the bluetooth protocol from the official app.

Installation

homebridge-gems-bulb can be installed through npm.

$ sudo npm install -g homebridge-gems-bulb --unsafe-perm

Configuration

You will first need to find the MAC address of your bulb. Each light will have a unique MAC address and likely a unique name. The bulb must be unpaired from other software or it will not show here.

$ sudo hcitool lescan
...
AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF M_lightXYZ
...

Add a new accessory to your config.json using the MAC address you located.

Restart Homebridge for the new bulb to appear in the Home app.

$ sudo systemctl restart homebridge.service

homebridge-gems-bulb's Issues

Light always reports as being turned on when status is refreshed

Might just be a slight difference between some Bluetooth bulbs.

Easy solution I can think of is adding an option in the config to just save the device state in memory and fake poll what the light was last set to rather than polling the actual device state, other than that most programming is beyond me so I wouldn't know where to begin.

Thank you for the great plugin, I have a feeling it doesn't have any active support, but I greatly appreciate the plugin nonetheless.
