This editor is really promising! I have been looking for something like this for awhile now! Great work!

I expected that 'remove format' button would remove headline tags or that there would some other way to remove headline tags. No the only way seems to be to delete the whole headline and create a new one. Could be somewhat confusing for less tech savvy users.

I seem to be able to write new content but when pressing enter, I can't make a new line or paragraph.

Suggestion: Integrate external editor, instead of building your own.

Create.js is pretty new thing, that seems nice! it helps you to integrate aloha editor or hallo editor. It also handles local drafts, even if you close the browser. And seems to have easy integration.

There are pretty nice demos, which are quite similar to yours.

Create.js is only front-end (you have to have something that saves to server, like CMS) so I see benefits in integrating with inplaceeditor.

What do you think?

I noticed that the verekia/initializr-bootstrap is getting pretty old and therefore with a fresh install the editorControls are impossible to use without changing code as they are dropdown - not dropup.
The .dropup class does not exist in current verekia/initializr-bootstrap.

Is inplaceeditor only built ot work with verekia/initializr-bootstrap or is it possible to use regular bootstrap?

The double click (for html editing) is not working for me. In the demo at least. It only activates edit like single click.

I'm using OS X Mavericks on Macbook Chrome. Tested both Chrome and Safari.

I noticed that server.js tries to save over a file called "http://localhost:3000/index.html" instead of simply "index.html". I have to hardcode this to get it to work for me in server.js:

   var name = 'index.html';//req.param('name', null);

I have just downloaded the master branch zipball and installed it on my PHP hosting. InPlaceEditor looks very promising, but it is buggy right now.
First of all, there is no info in README about file permissions, password being salted in sha1('#1_' . $_POST["password"] . '+%6') and required changing SERVER_PATH in inplaceeditor.js to run it.
Next, index.html, login page and new.html files lack CSS assets, e.g. http://getbootstrap.com/2.3.2/ which is in any case obsolete, throw JS errors, e.g. TypeError: $.browser is undefined in bootstrap-transition.js:37.
Next, login page layout is hardcoded in htmlEntities.inc rather than showing a modal on top of my theme (index.html).
Finally, while editing a text, I cannot add a header due to a NS_ERROR_FAILURE in inplaceeditor.js:374. I am using the latest Firefox.

For now InPlaceEditor is not ready for prime time, but keep working on it, because it has potential.

Is there a way to duplicate an element or should I develop a custom function?
Any hint?
