Add a check to make sure that the player doesn't have any units inside the picking area before handing out any gold

Ideally, all enemies will have hit points, damage, armor, etc scaled based upon the number of players in the game. I wouldn't recommend scaling unless there are roughly 6 or fewer players. Should be easy to adjust the stats of all spawned units with just a few function calls when they spawn. See: Unit Stat Storage

If a lightning tower is partially constructed when the Thunder Tower research is completed, it is still possible to build a Thunder Tower while the other tower is being constructed. This allows 2 Thunder Towers at once (half completed lightning tower will auto-upgrade when it finishes being built).

See the tankmisc.j and tankupgrade.j to see how this issue was adressed with tanks. Bonus points if you can generalize the code to work with limiting any given set of units.

The code would be easier to maintain if all the GUI was converted over to (v)JASS and all unnecessary variables were cleaned out as well.
