This simplifies the config file on the client, reducing it to just the location of the server. Do all the arithmetic on the server, so that the server's configuration can be simply specified in YAML

Put the stuff in requirements.txt into setup.py instead.

"Intelligently" probably means a database, tentatively sqlite3. Do not allow the store of logs to grow without bound. There will need to be a database cleanup policy that logs have timestamps and expire after X seconds. Provide an endpoint for changing X.

There needs to be a web UI for viewing logs. There should be some filtering and sorting, and it needs to be decided how much to do in the browser and how much to do in the back end. Maybe http://datatables.net/ for the front end piece.

Ideally the hostname. Maybe this could be looked up in /etc/hosts.
