to allow krampus to action more jobs in one run before hitting the timeout limit, don't block while waiting for results from the AWS API and continue to action jobs while waiting

python 2 has some things that make it not as pleasant to use for a project like krampus. port to python 3, or even better move to node. either language gives built-in async, and node especially lends itself well to being used in lambda.
