digital_cinema_tools_distribution's Issues

Ubuntu 12.10 vs Digital Cinema Tools Setup script

Fresh info! Today out now the new Ubuntu 12.10 linux called Quantal Quetzal.
Under the new Ubuntu 12.10 (i386 and amd64) the digital cinema tools setup script for asdcplib compile does not work, other part is good.

dcp_inspect verbosity levels change

I noticed from the code that dcp_inspect sets the log level to only show the information that you have specified and sets the other flags to false. Could it be changed to include information from the level you specify and higher log levels?

Here's how I might see the order of log levels from lowest to highest:
debug, cr, hints, cpl, info, errors

As such, setting to to "info" would include errors and setting it to "hints" would include all info but debug and cr. Does that make sense? I can submit a sample patch.

dcp_inspect: NilClass error during cpl inspection

I had dcp_inspect fail while verifying a CPL. I've included the relevant section of the output below and can send the rest privately if you'd like.

dcp_inspect v1.2013.11.12: ["/media/REMOVED_TITLE_DCP"]
/home/administrator/.digital_cinema_tools/.bin/dcp_inspect:2010: warning: Insecure world writable dir /home/administrator in PATH, mode 040777

Ubuntu 18.04 installation

Hi Wolfgang,

I'm trying to install digital cinema tools on Ubuntu 18.04, unfortunately the script didn't work:

dcp_inspect
Required command asdcp-info not found. Please run digital-cinema-tools-setup or install the missing component manually
Required command asdcp-unwrap not found. Please run digital-cinema-tools-setup or install the missing component manually
Required command kmuuidgen not found. Please run digital-cinema-tools-setup or install the missing component manually

I've managed to install asdcplib manually (developement version - asdcplib-2.8.29 - stable one didn't work) but it's still not enough.

Any chance you might be able to advise? I'd really appreciate it!

fdfind version check does not work

Hello,

First, thanks a lot for this great project: It is very useful.

I spotted a bug: fdfind has just reached version 10.0.0.
It breaks the version check (in dcp_inspect file, line 4726), which compares strings.

I can propose a PR to fix it, but since I am not used to Ruby, it may be ugly.

Best regards,
Benoît

schema validation issue

I successfully (manually) installed dcp_inspect on osx 10.9.5

I have this error:

Exception in Schema check: element decl. '{http://www.digicine.com/PROTO-ASDCP-CPL-20040511#}Signer', attribute 'type': The QName value '{http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#}KeyInfoType' does not resolve to a(n) type definition.

It seems to indicate a problem with the http://www.digicine.com/PROTO-ASDCP-CPL-20040511 schema, not the DCP itself?

I found this line in PROTO-ASDCP-CPL-20040511.xsd:
<xs:element name="Signer" type="ds:KeyInfoType" minOccurs="0"/>

Should I change the type to something else?

Mac OS X support

Hello.

PR #1 concerning Mac OS X support has been quiet for a couple of years.

Can I ask: is digital_cinema_tools_distribution supported on OS X currently? In my particular case, I'm on OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks.

DCSubtitle: LoadFont Id <> Font Id attributes dependency not checked

More vicious than the precedent:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<DCSubtitle Version="1.0">
    <SubtitleID>756ab113-f37e-4ef3-b320-a1fc6e080857</SubtitleID>
    <MovieTitle> </MovieTitle>
    <ReelNumber>1</ReelNumber>
    <Language>French</Language>
    <Font Id="Arial" Color="FFFFFFFF" Effect="border" EffectColor="FF000000" Size="42" Weight="normal">
        <Subtitle

Load font is not declared, but an Id is loaded in Font tag.
Of course the subtitle will not be displayed.

dcp_inspect detects the hint, but says that playback will use default font. In fact, it will not display the subtitle (on a Doremi dcp2000):

Hint: CPL 1a9ab622-47a1-4088-91da-dee8aee410e7: Reel 1: DCSubtitle: No LoadFont element found. Playback will use a default font

Maybe it's once again a server issue, but it seems to me that a font loaded in a tag has to be declared before.

Install Script CentOS - no SUDO capabilities

Hello Support,

First - much appreciate the tools you've provided and all of the effort put into making them work on a wide variety of systems.

Second - I'm having issues with the setup script. I've exactly followed the setup instructions and run the command and its variables in my CentOS 6.4 x64 machine. The issue I have is that the script requires sudo privileges - which we do not currently have implemented on our Linux machines here.

I don't suppose there is a difference between CentOS and Fedora which could be causing the issue - but that's why I write in. I did run the program as root, but got the message you wrote about NOT running the program as root.

Do you have any suggestions to get around this current issue?

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance.

-Mitch

Installation: rbenv

From Fabrizio (@ fabriziocarraro):

I've problems with the setup when it tries to install rbenv. It says:

fatal: unable to connect to github.com
github.com[0: 192.30.252.130]: errno=Connection refused
rbenv: failed to clone repository. Try again later

I tried many times in the last months. One one machine running opensuse I manage to install manually rbenv, but with a lot of unresolved conflicts. Dcp_inspect works but with some limitation.
I'm trying again with a fresh installation of opensuse and ubuntu 12.4, but I cannot manage to complete the installation script
I hope you can help me.
Regards
Fabrizio

install issue with asdcplib (ubuntu 18 / openssl 1.1.0)

dcp inspect - error or bug?

Hi Wolfgang,

for a small project (advert) I create a DCP with OPENDCP (latest)
The DCP looks good, but the dcp_inspect detect a error in line 24.

My question is the problem with the DCP creation and I report this bug on OPENDCP forum or the problem with the dcp inspection.

here is the error message:
Error: CPL cea0e4ec-9985-433d-9d10-472454bf83ee: Schema check: PROTO-ASDCP-CPL-20040511.xsd /media/WORK/SOURCE/VA/TEST_cpl.xml line 24: Element '{http://www.digicine.com/PROTO-ASDCP-CPL-20040511#}Hash': This element is not expected.

here is the CPL file:

make-dc-certificate-chain.rb not found

Installing on Fedora 18, digital_cinema_tools_distribution script stops with:

digital-cinema-tools-setup: line 832: /home/klaatu/.digital_cinema_tools/.bin/make-dc-certificate-chain.rb: No such file or directory

The error is corrected by manually copying make-dc-certificate-chain.rb to ~/.digital*tools/.bin/

After which the script runs fine.

Just FYI.

Thanks for a swell script :-)

Installation Fails on Ubuntu 22.04.3

Hi,

unfortunately it's not working to install the digital cinema tools on ubuntu 22.04.3 as of now.
I managed to get it to work a few weeks ago but right now, it's full of errors.
This has been done on a clean install:

First try:

apt-get: OK
grep: /home/sysadm/.bash_profile: No such file or directory
bashrc: Adding /home/sysadm/.digital_cinema_tools/.bin to PATH
rbenv: Installing
Cloning into '/home/sysadm/.digital_cinema_tools/.lib/.rbenv'...
remote: Enumerating objects: 3253, done.
remote: Counting objects: 100% (403/403), done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (212/212), done.

Resolving deltas: 100% (2016/2016), done.
rbenv: Command 'rbenv' not found

Second Try:
afterwards I've rerun the install script, but we still have errors:
rbenv is now installed at least

There were errors:
Error: rbenv: PATH does not include rbenv bin dir
Error: Ruby: Failed to install ruby (Required command rbenv not found)
Error: Nokogiri: Failed to install Nokogiri (Required command gem not found)

Third Try:
ruby is installing finally, it seems to be compiling from the sources.

DCSubtitle: Empty Text elements

dcp_inspect will not detect if a subtitle has no text:

The dcp will be ingested without error but the whole subtitle will not be displayed on a dcp2000.

Multi language subtitles Naming convention

Hi again,

using dcp_inspect v1.2015.01.02

Regarding the naming convetilention for multi-language subtitles, dcp_inspect does not recognize the language part of the ContentTitleText if you have more than one subtitles language.

See appendix 1 of Naming Convention
http://digitalcinemanamingconvention.com/appendix_1.asp

for example, I got FR-IT-TR language for my composition playlist and it says the language part is missing. If I have FR-IT, it match.

Setup: Revisit Nokogiri installation

As of now setup checks out bfe87e05 to pick a stable version with C14N support. There has been an official gem release, though, with C14N and that's what we want to have.

48fps 3D wrapping broken?

When using the following options together:
--fps 48
--wrap-stereoscopic

, I get this message:
"While your asdcplib version (1.9.45) allows wrapping of stereoscopic essence with 48 you should be aware that the resulting package is quite likely not field compliant (8/2011)"
However, when I look at the CPL, the EditRate reads '24 1'.

Full command:
moo@ubuntu:~$ cinemaslides -t dcp -a scope --dont-resize --fps 48 -x fade,1,12,1 --title HFR-HELLO --issuer MOO --annotation HFR-HELLO --kind policy -o HFR-HELLO --keep --wrap-stereoscopic /home/jkf/hfr/

cinemaslides v0.2012.10.21
Ubuntu 12.10 (i386) (VM)

Thanks

apt-get: Failed to install basic requirements Virtualbox Ubuntu

Hi,
I have been trying to install dcp_inspect on a virtualbox Ubuntu machine. I tried it on an Ubuntu 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04 image a couple of days in a row, but I always get an error:

apt-get: Failed to install basic requirements Virtualbox Ubuntu.

The network adapter is set to NAT and I can browse the internet on the virtualbox machines without problems. I am pretty new to virtual machines, so I am not sure if I have to open a port or install anything else to be able to get dcp_inspect from github?
I've successfully installed dcp_inspect on linux systems outside of virtualbox and I'm sure that I am following the same process on the virtual machines.

Here is the complete terminal output:

What should I do?

You are doing a wonderful job.

dcp_inspect: DC Naming Convention out of date

The latest version on digitalcinemanamingconvention.com is v9 and, from looking at the code, the current version is 3.9. There's been a few changes, which only really affect the hints provided.

3.9: https://web.archive.org/web/20110710124916/http://digitalcinemanamingconvention.com/

9.0: www.digitalcinemanamingconvention.com

Changes that I saw:

  • Naming changed from ALL-CAPS to InitialCaps
  • More approved Content Types
  • Addition of Content Type Modifiers
  • Addition of optional aspect ratio number after letter
  • Removed framerate from resolution
  • Include Standard type (IOP, SMPTE)
