twig's Introduction

Twig

Preview

Twig is a simple set of icons designed by Wiredcraft while building some of our products like devo.ps.

Since Twig is a lineart iconset, we needed to make icons specifically for various sizes so as to retain the same line thickness. You will find these icons in the respective folders for 12px, 16px, 24px, 32px & 48px. Some of these folders contain less icons than others, use the 16px one by default.

If you want to contribute some new icons, knock yourself out; just send us a black and white, SVG version of it and we'll consider adding it to the repo.

MIT license and all. Don't be a dick.

twig's Issues

Create placeholder page

After you're done with #1, you should try and create a simple GitHub pages on this repo to demo how to use the icon set.

I've already created a gh-pages branch; once you push content to it, we should have the page available at http://wiredcraft.com/twig since we host http://wiredcraft.com at Wiredcraft/wiredcraft.github.io (I can explain more in details if you ask me, it's one of the awesome things with GitHub pages).

Wireframe for the page

Let's discuss here the overall content, layout and design for the landing page of the twig icon set. You should already have some ideas, feel free to share the link for the pinterest board you were preparing and take pictures of doodles you may have come up with (I do that all the time). Once (if?) we have more polished mockups, we can also upload it in the comments.

Creating an icon set

I just pushed the initial commit of the icon set (that I baptized "Twig").

I'd like you to head down icomoon and create a font with the icons from the folder 16/ (I have not renamed and cleaned the others just yet). Don't worry yet about the outcome of this, I'll most likely redo it myself afterwards.

Once you're done, please add a fonts/ folder and add the fonts you generated along with an example on how to use it.

Review alignment and sizes of icons

I was pointed at the fact that currently, the twig icons aren't really lining up properly with a grid. For example:

While it's fine to have curves or occasional elements that don't fit in the grid, we should try and align as many of the straight lines and outlines to the 16 or 24 grid (depending on the icon set) for readability and ensuring the edges of the icons are sharp.

You can ask me if you need more details, but the picture is pretty self descriptive.
