@christian-bromann As a heads up, I started working on this issue and found that the latest v8 branch is currently not able to build due to a number of TypeScript related errors. I have opted to create a branch off of the last stable v8 tag commit for v8.35.1: 7ac0ca2 and will create a PR once ready, but will need to figure out the build errors before anything can be developed off v8

The errors I am seeing for latest v8 can be seen in the build logs, example: https://github.com/webdriverio/webdriverio/actions/runs/8527750521/job/23359837351

This may have started after some recent DependaBot PR merges:
