gwhere's Issues

"Select autoloaded catalog" window doesn't work

GWhere version: 0.3.W.alpha
Distribution: GNU/Linux Lubuntu 22.04.1 x64 ; Arch Linux x64 with LXQt 1.0.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Compile GWhere from git
  2. Launch the program
  3. Open Settings (select from menu: Options -> Settings)
  4. Select "Catalog file" from list on the left and on the right check "Autoload catalog" and then "Load selected catalog file"
  5. Press "Select catalog" button
  6. "Select autoloaded catalog" popup window will appear but nothing you can do here (cannot select anything and buttons doesn't work; only minimize and maximize window controls works)
  7. Select "Settings" window and close it. Now "Select autoloaded catalog" window is unlocked (and you can close it).

Consider merging changes from https://github.com/AlisterH/gwhere-catalog

Hi, it's good to see someone working on gwhere.
If you haven't seen it, I did a (very) little bit of work on it years ago over at google code, after applying the debian patches.
There was another project there called gwhere so I had to call the repository gwhere-catalog.
It might be worth checking out those changes and merging any useful ones into yours - even if it's just the English improvements.
I see someone else also brought it over from google code to github, but they haven't done any changes of their own.

Cancel button from "Open catalog" or "Import catalog from" popup window doesn't work and causes program to crash

GWhere version: 0.3.W.alpha
Distribution: GNU/Linux Lubuntu 22.04.1 x64 ; Arch Linux x64 with LXQt 1.0.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Compile GWhere from git
  2. Launch the program
  3. Click "Open catalog" icon or select from menu: File -> Open
  4. From "Open catalog" popup window click "Cancel" button (nothing happens)
  5. Click "Cancel" button again (program crashes)

or:

  1. Compile GWhere from git
  2. Launch the program
  3. Select from menu: Import -> CSV catalog
  4. From "Import catalog from" popup window click "Cancel" button (nothing happens)
  5. Click "Cancel" button again (program crashes)

If you launch gwhere from terminal emulator and it crashes you can see some error messages like:
corrupted double-linked list
Aborted (core dumped)

or:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

or:
double free or corruption (fasttop)
Aborted (core dumped)

or:
malloc_consolidate(): unaligned fastbin chunk detected
Aborted (core dumped)

compilation: multiple definition

Hello,
Yet another Gwhere user.
I just discover your fork and I'm very enthusiastic.
Trying to compil it under Debian Bullseye:

apt-get install intltool
apt-get install libgtk-3-dev
./configure

but:

configure: error: Package requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.14.0
gmodule-2.0 >= 2.14.0) were not met:

No package 'gtk+-2.0' found

well...

apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev
./configure

then many warning of deprecated gtk components and errors with ld
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
linking problems and get many errors like:
/usr/bin/ld: gwapplicationmanager.o: /gwhere-0.3.W.alpha/src/res/gwicons.h:122: multiple definition of MskZipDisk'; gwcatalogmanager.o:/gwhere-0.3.W.alpha/src/res/gwicons.h:122: first defined here
