Database

Store the chat in a database for persistence

ECMAScript 6 support

I think it would be a good idea to write CPSSDChat using the new paradigms introduced in ECMAScript 6, such as block-scoped variables and proper classes. Even though not all browsers support all of the new features, you can use an on-the-fly compiler like Traceur to port the ECMAScript 6 code to an older version.

Add Travis CI build status into README

Would be a nice addition to see how well the project is going

Move development to a real OS

I believe that developing CPSSDChat on an OSX clone is negatively impacting the project. Move to a real Linux distro like Arch, and I think you'll see a massive improvement in the project. For more info see here.

Basic real-time chat

One to one chat without persistence. Just exchange of information

Draft UI

Create a draft UI for the chat.

Ditch Node.js

Go has proven its functionality. We might even rewrite the backend in Rust to make @GoldenBadger happy

Users

Add users to the system and their corresponding data

Continue with the project?

Seeing how CPSSD is no longer (RIP in Pieces), is there a point developing and maintaining software for ~40 people? We can develop it as a joke and make it better than Slack, but effort.

Login System

Allow users to log in with their information. A basic API should be created to handle the exchange of data

Add a LICENSE file.

If it's open source it really really needs a license. I'm happy with anything. Maybe something simple and permissive like the MIT.
