orchis-kde's Issues

Orchis kvantum theme: showFoto toolbar and status bar broken

Among all applications, I've noticed a problem only in showFoto: I see an all-black toolbar and statusbar. No problem with the thumbbar on the left and the right sidebar.
As far as I know, this app is closely associated with digiKam, but no problem there.
I don't know if this can fixed in the theme...

Performance and resolution problem when 200% scale on 4k laptop (wayland)

  • The title bar show very low resolution text.
  • When drag window to top to maximize window, it will ignore the space occupied by top bar and take entire screen
  • Changing window sizes become terribly laggy

These problem all disappear after I change Window Decoration back to breeze while keeping the rest remain orchis-kde.

I haven't test it on X11 since my current device don't have X11.

Visual problems

image
There is a visual hovering glitch on each tooltip, even in different locations. Seems to be always some kind of square in each corner except top left.
Confirmed for other users too.

Missing icons for input state

Compared to the official Breeze theme's input.svg, a few of the icons are missing here. Namely the following ids:

  • input-num-on
  • input-keyboard-virtual-on
  • input-keyboard-virtual-off

And a few size variants as well, although some or all of these might be intentionally left out, not sure:

  • 22-22-input-mouse-battery
  • 16-16-input-mouse-battery
  • 22-22-input-keyboard-virtual-on
  • 22-22-input-keyboard-virtual-off
  • 22-22-input-caps-off
  • 22-22-input-num-on

I noticed mainly because I configured the keyboard Lock Keys Status applet to only show the numlock status, which currently produces an empty space in the tray without the corresponding icon.

Fix for Vivaldi browser window with no shadow, no round corners

The kwinrule below fixes this problem at the expense of adding titlebar.
I wonder if this can be achieved without titlebar, i.e. keeping Vivaldi's own window buttons on the tab bar...

Weird curve black bar under windows

I'm using the latest Orchis-KDE straight out from git, here is my current setup:

  • Operating System: Arch Linux
  • KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4
  • KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0
  • Qt Version: 5.15.5
  • Kernel Version: 5.18.16-arch1-1 (64-bit)
  • Graphics Platform: X11
  • Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics
  • Memory: 15.1 GiB of RAM
  • Graphics Processor: AMD RENOIR
  • System Version: 1.0

And the problem:
image
As you can see there is a black bar under the window which doesn't look good. Is this a bug or it's a design choice ? Is there any way to get rid of it and curve the black window border instead ? Or we could keep the curve bar but blur it instead of leaving it transparent ?

Window borders expand beyond what should be normal when using display scaling

The window borders expand beyond what's expected when Display Scaling is set in the display settings (in my case, I have it set at 150%). It seems related to this issue.

Examples:
orchis-bug1
orchis-bug2

Additionally, although this is not necessarily related to the above issue, is there an included theme for the latte dock? I seem to be unable to replicate the appearance of the dock in your screenshots (namely, the margin below it).

Thanks in advance.

KDE 6 support ?

KDE 6 landed on Arch Linux so I tried it out. The theme works quite nicely, but some icons have reverted to the default look ? An update to this theme would be nice

orchis-kde signs of life?

Hi there!

I'd just like to thank you for such a wonderful theme. As the upstream Materia and Materia-KDE themes aren't seeing futher development, I'm seeing Orchis and Orchis-KDE as its logical successors. As such, in Ubuntu Studio, we have decided to use Orchis for our default theme starting in the 24.10 (no codename yet, but starting with "O") cycle. As such, I've packaged it and it has been accepted into the Ubuntu repositories for inclusion into Ubuntu 24.04 Noble Numbat, making it available for Kubuntu and Ubuntu Studio alike.

However, I haven't seen a release tag, nor have I seen any activity besides an icon update since January 8, nor any answers to some of the issues you have, so I'm a bit concerned with the life of Orchis-KDE vis-a-vis Orchis GTK. Most notably, I'm seeing Issue #25, and since we'll be switching to Plasma 6 with our next release, it's possible it'll resolve itself, but I'm not 100% sure.

Anyhow, I'm hoping that this project is alive and well. Thanks for this theme, it's wonderful!

Windows border is huge when using global scaling at 125%

Hi @vinceliuice,

Thanks for your awesome theme, I love it very much. But I've got a problem. When I set my display at 125%, the application is huge like below photo.
image
Is there any way to fix it. I've set at 100% and the border is fine, but it's hard to use 100% on my laptop's 15'6 screen.
Thanks for your attention. I’m looking forward to your reply.

"Korner" bug still exists on some apps

Here is my setup (I'm using the latest Orchis-KDE version)

  • Operating System: Arch Linux
  • KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4
  • KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0
  • Qt Version: 5.15.5
  • Kernel Version: 5.18.16-arch1-1 (64-bit)
  • Graphics Platform: X11
  • Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics
  • Memory: 15.1 GiB of RAM
  • Graphics Processor: AMD RENOIR
  • System Version: 1.0

image
The blue-ish window is alacrity and the other one is kate. As you can see the bug is not fully resolved and still exists on some programs
image
The above is from the increase/decrease volume popup which is also a victim of "Korner". Any ideas on how to fix this ?

Black bar under windows

Hey there!
I am experiencing similar problem to #21. Below are three screenshots of different window decoration modes (in order dark, dark_Nvidia, dark_x1.5):

With the first mode (that I should be using as i have an Intel iGPU) there is a semi-transparent, non-blurred black-ish bar. I've included other modes for comparison just to be sure.

Attaching my system info from KDE's "System Settings" app:
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6

Qt Version: 5.15.10

Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 8 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz
Memory: 11,5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Xe Graphics
Manufacturer: Acer
Product Name: Aspire A515-56
System Version: V1.26

Problem when using the normal and 1.5x versions of the window decoration with 1.25% scaling.

I normally use my laptop at 1.25% scaling, as it's very hard to use in normal scaling where everything is too tiny, and 1.50 is too big for me. I tried downloading them from pling, from the full kde theme and from the settings, but all of them break. I also use fedora with 1.25 scaling with kde and it works fine there...

Is there a way to fix this manually? I mean I can live with this but still... I hope you can fix this

Titlebar blur gone on Plasma 5.25

Hello

So I updated to the newest KDE version and the titlebar blur stopped working.

image

This happens because Plasma 5.25 needs a new "mask" element so it knows what region to apply the blur to. This article explains how to fix it: https://psifidotos.blogspot.com/2022/03/kornersfix.html

I modified the light theme in a fork to test it out and it works.
image

I'd like to note that in order to fix the korners bug, I had to remove all fill gradients from the "shadows" on the mask and replace them with fill="none". Just setting opacity to 0 didn't work on my machine.

I wasn't able to add blur to the bottom of the windows, but I imagine that's a limitation on Aurorae in general.

Weird outline outside (some) programs

I am running Fedora KDE and immediately after installing the Orchis theme and applying it I get this bug.

Opening a program will leave it with a black shadowy outline with a pretty thick gap between the edges of the program and the weird outline. Moving or scaling the program will immediately cause the strange outline to disappear, making everything normal until close then open the program again.

Is there a fix?

A solid (opaque) version?

Can you please add a option for a kvantum and plasma theme but solid? because this kde version is transparent which is meant for using with blur but it looks out of place because gnome (gtk) version has the soild option while this kde (qt) version didn't have this option

Darker Color Scheme?

I've installed the GTK part of the theme with the 'black' tweak, but can't match the design using the provided color scheme. Would it be possible to create a similar color scheme as the 'black' gnome-shell, but for KDE?
