Light-handed gem to convert HTML sourcecode with standard syntax to kramdown (1.x) syntax, more or less reversibly
Very early in the process. Not suitable for primetime.
Also: not a gem, yet.
- Should not modify HTML code wrapped in
code
blocks - Should handle nesting in
blockquote
and list nodes - Should preserve all inline styles, classes and other attributes, either by leaving styled tags alone or "kramdownifying" the syntax
- Should permit toggling of processing on a tag-by-tag basis (e.g.,
if the original document uses
em
for emphasis andi
for Latin abbreviations or book titles, you should be able to retain thei
tags while converting theem
tags to kramdown)
Round-trip testing: Take a blob of HTML code, convert it to kramdown syntax, render that as HTML, and expect the result to be syntactically identical.
