PAT tuplize VH leptonic decay signal samples

Dear Tapas,

Can you please PAT tuplize the following samples in 53X (8TeV ones) and 4XX (7TeV ones)?

The new samples have been added in the data7TeV.py and data8TeVNew.py in this commit:

6f86c61

The samples to be processed are:

VHWW_lepdecay_110
VHWW_lepdecay_120
VHWW_lepdecay_130
VHWW_lepdecay_140
VHtautau_lepdecay_110
VHtautau_lepdecay_115
VHtautau_lepdecay_120
VHtautau_lepdecay_125
VHtautau_lepdecay_130
VHtautau_lepdecay_135
VHtautau_lepdecay_140

(you can select them by --samples "VH*lepdecay*")

Thanks!

Evan

ZZ 7 TeV requests

Hi Tapas--
The short names for the ZZ samples I need are:

Zjets_M50
GluGluToZZTo4L
GluGluToZZTo2L2L
ZZTo4mu_powheg_v2
ZZTo4e_powheg_v2
ZZTo4tau_powheg_v2
ZZTo2e2tau_powheg_v2
ZZTo2e2mu_powheg_v2
ZZTo2mu2tau_powheg_v2
ggH_ZZ_4l_*
VBF_ZZ_4l_*
data_Double*_Run2011B_16Jan2012_v1

There is a processing of the Zjets (/hdfs/store/user/tapas/2012-09-10-7TeV-PatTuple/Zjets_M50), BUT it was before the move to the new PAT recipe. So it doesn't have everything I need. It's a pretty big one, so when the new processing is finished, the old could probably be cleaned up (although we'd have to coordinate.. It may be in active use by some people).

Documenting campaing (take2)

I want to try again to document the samples we are using. Or we will go crazy.

Check

https://github.com/uwcms/FinalStateAnalysis/wiki/PAT-Tuple-Publications

And as examples
https://github.com/uwcms/FinalStateAnalysis/wiki/2012-09-10-7TeV-PatTuples

It takes 2 min to fill something like that up once we have the data we want for our analysis completed, and it will really decrease headaches.

There is no need to fill one entry per analysis, but as soon as a patuple request is completed, the requestor should take 2 minutes to write the hdfs directory address, samples patuplized, and any known problems/issues with them for the general public.

Note that these are only examples. If you have a more brilliant idea, wonderful. I just want to know where to find a short list of samples if I need it.

Thanks!l

TMFTracks not in embedded samples....again!!

Hi Tapas/Evan,

I don't know how this happens for a third time but the TMFTracks are once again not in the embedded samples that Tapas produced last night.

vectorreco::Track "tmfTracks" "" "EmbeddedRECO"

needs to be kept...

Make MVA MET work on top of PAT tuple

The MVA MET uses the reco::Muon, electron and PFTau as inputs. The pat::Muons and electrons in the PAT tuple should work out of the box, but we need to convert pat::Taus back into PFTaus.

PAT tuplize MuEG and DoubleMu 53X re-recos of 2012 data

Dear Tapas,

Can you please tuplize the following 53X samples:

/DoubleMe/Run2012B-13Jul2012-v1/AOD

for the ZZ @iross @dabelknap and VH analyses?

We also need to get the rest of the 2012C data up to the TS, but I need to talk to Josh about what we need for that.

Thanks!

PAT tuples of forgotten 7 TeV diboson samples

Hi Tapas,

Can you please PAT tuplize two 7 TeV samples:

ZZJetsTo4L_pythia
WWJetsTo2L2Nu

for me? It is not extremely urgent, as I have some old ones lying around, but would like to delete them and be consistent.

Thank you!

Evan

Update PAT recipe in 42x

I need r9 and some other variable in my electrons, which requires the PAT recipe V08-06-58. Analysis tags need to get updated to run over any pattuples produced with this recipe, but it looks like analysis jobs work fine on old pattuples (even with 'new' tags).

Todo: confirmation requested from everybody. Test files on login06:
/scratch/iross/WJets_newRecipe.root
/scratch/iross/WJets_oldRecipe.root

/scratch/iross/DYJets_newRecipe.root
/scratch/iross/DYJets_oldRecipe.root

Recipes:
OLD (V08-06-55)
addpkg DataFormats/PatCandidates V06-04-19-04
addpkg PhysicsTools/PatAlgos V08-06-55
addpkg PhysicsTools/PatUtils V03-09-18
addpkg CommonTools/ParticleFlow B4_2_X_V00-03-04
addpkg PhysicsTools/SelectorUtils V00-03-24
addpkg PhysicsTools/UtilAlgos V08-02-14

V08-06-58
addpkg DataFormats/PatCandidates V06-04-19-05
addpkg PhysicsTools/PatAlgos V08-06-58
addpkg PhysicsTools/PatUtils V03-09-18
addpkg CommonTools/ParticleFlow B4_2_X_V00-03-05
addpkg PhysicsTools/SelectorUtils V00-03-24
addpkg PhysicsTools/UtilAlgos V08-02-14

As long as everybody's happy, I propose we all move to the new recipe. Because of the backwards compatibility, it should NOT require much reprocessing. I'd only need the Double lepton datasets, DYJets, and the (H->)ZZ POWHEG samples (which I believe haven't been run yet).

More Embedded Samples

I need the following three embedded samples made into patuples.

ZZ 53x requests (no higgs samples...yet)

Hi Tapas--
Here's the list of 53x samples that we'll need in the ZZ analysis.

I've added the missing samples to the 8TeVNew data defs (commit f60ab1e).

Those samples marked with an [a] are the ones I've just requested, so they may not be at Wisconsin yet.
Those with [b] are the most recent data runs, which (unless I'm misreading what you've run) are missing the last chunk of HCP-era data. From what I see, the last run processed in the pattuples is 201264, but 203002 is the last run used in the HCP datasets. I did NOT update the datadefs for these, because I'm not sure how you wanted to handle the additional chunk of data.

Fix electron conversion bug

(Josh posted this to my personal repo, moving it here)

It has been found out that the electron conversion veto makes use of the root object key and root object id to identify conversion tracks with gsfTracks. This feature breaks the electron conversion veto for PAT if the gsfTrack has been embedded into the PATElectron. Josh Bendavid has kindly agreed to add a track identification based on the following criteria physics:
dR between the two tracks (suggested <1E-6)
difference in pt between the two tracks (suggested < 0.1)
same number of tracks of hit pattern.
The suggested numbers in braces still need to be evaluated and confirmed. Anyhow they will be internals of the conversion veto. This way of track association should be more robust. Until this change is announced there is a temporary fix for those people using PAT for existing PAT tuples, suggested by Andrew Gilbert.
Doing a type conversion of the PATElectron to the GSFElectron should recover the root object key and root object id. This is expected to work only as long as the GSFElectron collection has been keptl in the event. The cleaner solution is for future PAT tuple productions to switch the embedding of the GSFTack into the PATElectron to false. (Anyhow analysts should have done this already if they still keep the GSFElectron collection in the event).

bool has_match = ConversionTools::hasMatchedConversion(*(iter), hConversions, beamspot->position(), true, 2.0, 1e-6, 0);

would become:

bool has_match = ConversionTools::hasMatchedConversion(dynamic_cast<reco::GsfElectron const&>(*(iter->originalObjectRef())), hConversions, beamspot->position(),    true, 2.0, 1e-6, 0);

Old Embedded Samples can go

All of the embedded files here can go since they have been replaced:

53X SINGLEMU Patuples

Sascha's request (from early september) is still missing.

We need the SingleMu datasets in 53X reprocessed, for T&P and for Wbb

/SingleMu/Run2012A-13Jul2012-v1/AOD
/SingleMu/Run2012B-13Jul2012-v1/AOD
/SingleMu/Run2012C-24Aug2012-v1/AOD
/SingleMu/Run2012C-PromptReco-v2/AOD

This request should be synced with

#27

and

#24

I have just asked for the transfer of Run2012C-24Aug (https://cmsweb.cern.ch/phedex/prod/Request::View?request=389206)

Tapas, please start by Run2012A&B.

pattuple->parent data file mapping

Hi Tapas--
I think it may be useful to keep track of which pattuple files came from what AOD file, so I wrote a script that dumps the info into a simple json file (based on the job report xmls):

https://github.com/uwcms/FinalStateAnalysis/blob/master/MetaData/scripts/mapToParent.py

python mapToParent.py --dir='/scratch/tapas/2012-10-02-8TeV-53X-PatTuple_ShareFSFix/GluGluToHToZZTo4L_M-125_8TeV-powheg-pythia6/' --output="ggH125.json"

Do you think you could start gathering some of these jsons from your submit directories and put them somewhere accessible? We don't need everything yet, but could you do the samples from this request so I can work on a few things?

The main benefit of keeping track of this stuff is that it'll be possible to add the parent datasets as secondary inputs in the cases where something is inadvertently left out of the pattuple.

ALSO, if anybody things other things should be saved, say so.. I added an option to dump the processed lumis as well, but I'm not sure how useful it would really be..

Sync of Run2012C v1 PATUPLES

Moved from the ZZ issue.

#24 Requested PromptReco for the Run2012C samples for ZZ (DoubleMu, DoubleElectron, MuEG), plus the Aug6 recover dataset.

#27 Requested the Aug24 rereco for Run2012C for SingleElectron.

#33 Requested the Aug24 rereco for SingleMu

a) Is Prompt + Aug06 exactly identical to Aug24?

b) Is this going to give us problems with T&P (that seems to be the only case in which we may need to mix the single and double lepton datasets)

If we are all happy with the mix I will close the issue, but we should all be aware of the mitmatch in the requests to avoid problems.

Deletion of 52X data patTuples

Is it ok to delete these ones ? These are 52X and 53X samples for these ones are being processed ! At least for DoubleMu and MuEG. For SingleMu, this is probably the only sample with 8 TeV 2012A+B.

Some 8TeV PAT tuples show up in 7TeV PAT tuple query

Hi Tapas,

When I run:

python /afs/hep.wisc.edu/home/tapas/work/phedex-subs/getPatTupleInfo.py -e 7 -l

I get one section for WZ that seems to point to the 8TeV sample.

Dataset name: /WZJetsTo3LNu_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM
Dataset Key: WZJetsTo3LNu
Storage Dir: /hdfs/store/user/tapas/2012-08-24-8TeV-PatTuple/WZJetsTo3LNu_TuneZ2_8TeV-madgraph-tauola

Do you know what is going on? If the 7TeV ones do not exist, I will request them.

Thanks!
Evan

Truncated files

  • I have encountered several issues of missing files (truncated) in data patuples.

  • This is not dramatically worrying for W+Jets, but we should find a systematic way of dealing with it to minimize future problems.

  • This can give problems when checking the luminosity with our condor scripts, if we run over more than 1 file per job (given the huge amount of files in the SingleMu and SingleElectron patuples, grouping 4-5 files per condor job is practical)

  • Two ideas:

    a) add an option to farmour to check first if the file is OK before adding it to the list

    b) adapt the jobReportSummary to check if the xml is together with an output root file (or if the ExitCode is OK)

  • As a second view of this problem, why are we losing root files? This happened over the weekend?

Trigger issues

Hello, I am working with a few other undergrads to recreate the 7TeV dilepton results. I receive the following error when attempting to run a _cfg file

---- ProductNotFound BEGIN
getByLabel: Found zero products matching all criteria
Looking for type: L1GlobalTriggerReadoutRecord
Looking for module label: gtDigis
Looking for productInstanceName:

cms::Exception going through module HLTLevel1GTSeed/hltLevel1GTSeed run: 1 lumi: 2 event: 914829
If you wish to continue processing events after a ProductNotFound exception,
add "SkipEvent = cms.untracked.vstring('ProductNotFound')" to the "options" PSet in the configuration.
ProcessingStopped

We reach this error using the following snippet from the following snippet of code from patTuple_first7TeV_data_cfg.py.

require physics declared

process.load('HLTrigger.special.hltPhysicsDeclared_cfi')
process.hltPhysicsDeclared.L1GtReadoutRecordTag = 'gtDigis'

require scraping filter

process.scrapingVeto = cms.EDFilter("FilterOutScraping",
applyfilter = cms.untracked.bool(True),
debugOn = cms.untracked.bool(False),
numtrack = cms.untracked.uint32(10),
thresh = cms.untracked.double(0.2)
)

configure HLT

process.load('L1TriggerConfig.L1GtConfigProducers.L1GtTriggerMaskTechTrigConfig_cff')
process.load('HLTrigger/HLTfilters/hltLevel1GTSeed_cfi')
process.hltLevel1GTSeed.L1TechTriggerSeeding = cms.bool(True)
process.hltLevel1GTSeed.L1SeedsLogicalExpression = cms.string('0 AND (40 OR 41) AND NOT (36 OR 37 OR 38 OR 39) AND NOT ((42 AND NOT 43) OR (43 AND NOT 42))')

process.primaryVertexFilter = cms.EDFilter("GoodVertexFilter",
vertexCollection = cms.InputTag('offlinePrimaryVertices'),
minimumNDOF = cms.uint32(4) ,
maxAbsZ = cms.double(15),
maxd0 = cms.double(2)
)

If anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this issue please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Joe Kowalski

ZZ 8 TeV Data (with special IAN ONLY recipe)

Hi Tapas--
Could you run the 2012 samples[1] for me? I need a slightly different version of the electron isolation than is currently in the code, so instead of the usual recipe_52x.sh, can you do the following?

[make a new release]
[clone the repo as usual]
source FinalStateAnalysis/environment.sh
cd FinalStateAnalysis/recipe
sed -i 's/./recipe_52X.sh/sh /afs/hep.wisc.edu/cms/iross/recipe_with_25MayEleIsoFix.sh/g' recipe.sh
sh recipe.sh
[compile, etc]

Then (to make sure it's the new recipe), could you make sure a "showtags" command lists:
V00-03-13 CommonTools/ParticleFlow
V15-01-11 RecoParticleFlow/PFProducer

Thanks!

Ian

Deletion of duplicate 53X samples

These are being remade right now along with 2012A+B with 53X, except for SingleMu which will be submitted once Maria makes a request. If no complains I will delete these once the new 53X are done.

Pattuple creation for WW->dilepton -- /GluGluToWWTo4L_TuneZ2_7TeV-gg2ww-pythia6

Hello,
I would like to request pattuples to be created for /GluGluToWWTo4L_TuneZ2_7TeV-gg2ww-pythia6 for the purpose of recreating the 7TeV WW->dilepton outcome. I am unsure if this information is needed, but we are working in CMSSW_4_2_8_patch7. I have requested the following dataset to the UW Madison site.

/GluGluToWWTo4L_TuneZ2_7TeV-gg2ww-pythia6/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM

Thanks in advance,

Single Electron 2012 Data

Can we get the following SingleElectron datasets patuplized:

/SingleElectron/Run2012A-13Jul2012-v1/AOD
/SingleElectron/Run2012B-13Jul2012-v1/AOD
/SingleElectron/Run2012C-24Aug2012-v1/AOD

2012C_v2 is already done.

Patuple for the final embedded sample.

I need the following sample patuplized:

/DoubleMu/StoreResults-DoubleMu_Run2012A_13Jul2012_v1_embedded_trans1_tau116_ptmu1_13had1_17_v1-f456bdbb960236e5c696adfe9b04eaae/USER

Thanks

I/O Errors on Patuples

This is a cross posting. I don't think the issue is with the patuples them selves as they were fine when I last ran on them.

While these errors are not too frequent this causes problems when running on data as I need all of the jobs to complete.

All files are on Login05.

bbA300 Patuple Request

I need the following sample patuplized.

/SUSYBBHToTauTau_M-300_8TeV-pythia6-tauola/Summer12_DR53X-PU_S10_START53_V7A-v2/AODSIM

PAT tuplize 53X WGamma sample

Hi Tapas,

Can you please tuplize in 53:

/WGToLNuG_TuneZ2star_8TeV-madgraph-tauola/Summer12_DR53X-PU_S10_START53_V7A-v1/AODSIM

Thanks!

Evan

52X PAT tuples for H2Tau xcheck

For the H2Tau xcheck, Josh needs

DYJets
WJets
TTBar
WZ-->2L2Q
ZZ-->2L2Q
WZ-->3L
ZZ-->4L
WW-->2L
T_tW
TBar_tW
TauPlusX Data
Tau Embedded Samples
W3Jets (high priority)

samples processed with 52X.

Code doesn't compile in 53X

The MVA MET dependencies needs to be excised from the code base. We save the tracks now, so we can reprocess on the fly.

7 TeV Higgs-->tautau samples

I need the following samples patuplized (taking into account what I know is already done)

One of these two is already done but not sure which?

/TTJets_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM
/TTJets_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v2/AODSIM

Some of these might not be in datadefs yet:

/WWJetsTo2L2Nu_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM
/WZJetsTo2L2Q_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM
/WZJetsTo3LNu_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM
/ZZJetsTo2L2Nu_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM
/ZZJetsTo2L2Q_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM

Just requested the following sample

/ZZJetsTo4L_TuneZ2_7TeV-madgraph-tauola/Fall11-PU_S6_START42_V14B-v1/AODSIM

Then higgs signal samples: (mass points are already coded into datadefs
