I recommend using urllib2 instead of urllib.
Note that the urllib.urlopen() function has been removed in Python 3 in favor of urllib2.urlopen().

I had seen this in the documentation, but was a bit confused. It says that urllib2 has been split across several urllib.* modules, which leads me to believe that even urllib2.urlopen() won't work in Python 3 [1].
