Topographic Asymmetry

This code contains a set of python scripts to use for ellipse fitting of slope-aspect distributions. Used in the publication:

Smith, T., & Bookhagen, B. (2020). Climatic and Biotic Controls on Topographic Asymmetry at the Global Scale. Journal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, 125, e2020JF005692. https://doi.org/10.1029/2020JF005692

Code Description

The Ellipse_Fitting.py file contains functions to clip a DEM by a given shapefile (e.g., against a set of watersheds, or against a set of bounding boxes). It also contains methods for finding ellipse fit errors and basic plotting utilities.
