HDR 2nd Check is a basic program aimed at providing an automated, independent check of a high dose rate brachytherapy plan generated by BrachyVision/Eclipse (Varian Medical, Inc).

This program was started in July, 2012 as a response to the Eclipse 11 upgrade, which proved to be incompatible with the secondary check program "HDR Handcalc", upon which this program is based. This program is written entirely in Python and can hopefully be adapted to future changes with Eclipse/BrachyVision and other HDR planning systems.

This software comes without any warranty and has not been approved for clinical use by any regulatory bodies. Use at your own risk.

Dependencies:

To run this program from source or to build into a binary, the following libraries are needed.
- Python v. 2.4+
- reportlab (for PDF production)
- easygui

The basic second check function can be performed with just the built in Python libraries. and run as:

python hdrcheck.py x-coord y-coord z-coord target-dose input-report-file-name

where coordinates are in cm and target dose is in Gy.
