These instructions work in a Bash environment. If you are on Windows, Bash is now officially supported! (Windows 10 required). Installation instructions can be found here.

  • Clone the repository to the desired location on your system

  • cd into the repository

    • cd cpp-grapher
  • Your project is ready for use!

Build project & run tests (assuming you are in the project root folder, as per above instructions)

IDE Support

If you are more comfortable with GUI-based development, I recommend taking a look at JetBrains' CLion. It works with C++11/14 with "Intellisense" and refactoring tools, CMake dependency management and has cross-platform (Mac/Linux/Windows) support.

cpp-grapher's Issues

cmake 3.5 vs 3.6

More of a question than an issue. What would need to happen to be able to compile with cmake 3.5? The reason I ask is that 3.5.1 is the latest on apt, which makes it much easier to install on the unsafers. I can do 3.6+, but it'll require a bit more work on my end.

missing tinyutf8.cpp compiler bug

I'm on commit 33c742f

I'm seeing:

CMake Error at Sources/Modules/CppGrapher/CMakeLists.txt:3 (add_library):
  Cannot find source file:

    ../3rdParty/tinyutf8/tinyutf8.cpp

Poking around the directory, it looks like tinyutf8.cpp is missing from the repo.

compiler and linker search paths

Hi, Mr. C. I'm working on the include paths in the package. Can you send me the output from the following commands on the Linux VM image where this code will run?

8-bit ImageMagick binary (with header file support, if you are asked) will need to be installed already.

  1. find 2>/dev/null / -iname "*Magick++-7.Q8HDRI*" and
  2. find 2>/dev/null/ -iname "Magick++.h"
  3. ls -al /usr/include/ImageMagick*
  4. ls -al /usr/local/include/ImageMagick*
  5. ls -al /opt/include/ImageMagick*

This will tell me about the paths where the 1) where the compiler can find the Magick++ headers to build against and 2) the linker can find the Magick++ library to link against. 3-5) will tell me about "alternative" paths to 1).

Thanks, Cameron.

fatal error: Magick++.h: No such file or directory

I'm seeing ^^^^ show up when I'm trying to compile. Looks like it should be in /usr/local/include but mine is empty. Seems like installing ImageMagick from source is missing from the install process?
