ubports.com's Issues

FAQ about homebrew is not clear

This FAQ has multiple issues. It's not written in proper sentences, looks a bit like copy paste mistakes. It should be either fixed or deleted. I wonder how /frequently/ this question has really been asked?!

Is it possible to setup Linuxbrew and install formulae?

Linuxbrew will provide more information.

Features Can install software to a home directory and so does not require sudo Install software not packaged by the native distribution Install up-to-date versions of software when the native distribution is old Use the same package manager to manage both your Mac and GNU/Linux machines

[Stats] Remove duplicates

Since there's no way of filtering duplicates after the clients IP address has changed, only devices that requested an update within the last 48 hours should be considered active.

[Stats] Add a month-by-month graph

From @NeoTheThird on May 6, 2017 19:3

There should be a graph to show changes in device numbers. Also, inactive devices should no longer be counted.

Wrong use of the word Patreon

  1. At the bottom of each web page:

"Donate
Our Sponsors
Donate with Paypal
Donate with Bitcoin
Become a Patreon! "

Patreon use the terms "Become a Patron" not "Become a Patreon"
So it could be:

  1. "Donate
    Our Sponsors
    Donate with Paypal
    Donate with Bitcoin
    Donate with Patreon"

Or it could be

  1. "Donate
    Our Sponsors
    Donate with Paypal
    Donate with Bitcoin
    Become a Patron !"

Solution 1. is more coherent.

The same wrong use of the word Patreon is spread on many other places and other web sites, docs.ubports.com, ...

Lost Open Store Link

Hello,
I think it would be nice to have a direct link to the Open Store.
The link could be placed next to "devices" and below, under the three links (Upgrade your phone now !, Contribute and Donate).
It seems logical to promote an operating system and its ecosystem of apps

Wrong dates in blog RSS feed

Hi,

Since the ubports website has been redesigned, the RSS feed of the new blog (using odoo, not the devblog) produces broken dates: it seems that every time a new post is written, a certain amount of preceding posts are re-syndicated all with the same date (year month day), but with variations in timestamps.

This is visible by browsing the RSS feed link. Obviously UBports Newsletter 2 and UBports Newsletter 3 had not been written both at the same date (now seen as July 28). The XML file produced for the feed does not contain creation dates but dates of update (of the whole blog?).

Best regards,
Christian

Use modern (SegWit) Bitcoin addresses for donations

Current Bitcoin address (1DpvghKwhrwZyyCyWMQ2tnLaV3yEznFndB) is the legacy one.

It would be nice to have additional native SegWit bc1... address [0].

Using this new type of address would reduce transaction fee and conserve blockchain capacity. Legacy address obviously should left there too, as not all wallets support SegWit yet.

Implement "headers" on .devices.ubports.com

From @UniversalSuperBox on November 27, 2016 16:32

From original issue, by @3rdwiki:

We need the "Active Devices", "Inprogress Devices", and "Voting Devices"

as 'Headers' so that we can say do the WebLink:

  1. https://devices.ubports.com/#Core_Devices
  2. https://devices.ubports.com/#Legacy_Devices
  3. https://devices.ubports.com/#Development_Devices

(and the link goes to that 'section' of the devices.ubports.com/#/ web-page).

in forum when login the main URL is added before the previous positionURL

In the forum if I move in the forum (to eg. https://forums.ubports.com/category/43/ut-for-raspberry-pi) and then I login it adds to my previous location URL the https://forums.ubports.com/ string (in my example the new url would be https://forums.ubports.com/https://forums.ubports.com/category/43/ut-for-raspberry-pi) resulting in a "Not Found
You seem to have stumbled upon a page that does not exist. Return to the home page." error

[Devices] Hide column ID from users

From @Flohack74 on June 20, 2017 6:48

I think we can hide the ID column for normal users. Looks distracting and like some kind of ranking, people could be unsure if this is important info or not...

Add a Get Involved / Project Contributions / Translations item

On the "Get Involved" page, there is currently only two items for the "Project Contributions": "Testing and Quality Assurance" and "Code".

Would it be possible to add a third one for translations? Below is a proposal:

Translations
Your coding skills are very limited but you are comfortable with English and one or multiple foreign languages? You can still contribute by filling our user-friendly translation platform to port Ubuntu Touch to your native language.

[Devices] Add a picture of the device

From @NeoTheThird on May 25, 2017 9:12

There should be a picture of the device running Ubuntu Touch in the sidebar above the "What's working" widget.

Link to the blog

There should be a prominent link to https://blog.ubports.com/ on the landing page. Currently, it's really hard to tell if the project is still alive, because there's no new information anywhere but the blog and the blog is a well kept secret.

Keep up the good work btw, this came out more critical than it was meant. I just think the PR on UBports needs to be a little ...more.
