WORK IN PROGRESS
A reverse-engineered implementation of the Joel On Software UI in Nextjs. Created as a learning exercise
Outcome Goals:
- Implement the layout of the the key pages: Home page, about page, article pages
- Learn the basics of React & Nextjs to build an actual production grade website
Non Goals:
- Getting the styling exactly the same. Near enough reproduction of layout
- Including all site content
- Following Best practices and perfect implementations on the first pass. Since I'm currently learning, attempting to do so will add more overhead to my journey
Pages / Features to implement:
- /index page
- /archives
- /about-me
- /YYYY/mm/dd/[id] pages
- [ ]
First, run the development server:
npm run dev
# or
yarn dev
Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.
You can start editing the page by modifying pages/index.tsx
. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.
API routes can be accessed on http://localhost:3000/api/hello. This endpoint can be edited in pages/api/hello.ts
.
The pages/api
directory is mapped to /api/*
. Files in this directory are treated as API routes instead of React pages.
