container-node-proposal's Issues

Child of multiple containerNodes?

Can an element be a descendant of multiple containerNodes, or does appending to any given containerNodes necessarily involve detaching it from any other containerNodes?

const containerA = document.createContainerNode()
const containerB = document.createContainerNode()

const text = document.createTextNode( '' )

containerA.appendChild( text )
// containerA.contains( text ) === true

containerB.appendChild( text )
// containerB.contains( text ) === true
// containerA.contains( text ) === false ?

Why? TODO

I'm concerned that the solution is being developed before stating the problem. Stating the problem is the most important part.

Taking the description in the readme, you can already do this via:

var elements = [document.createElement('div'), document.createElement('span')];
appendChildren(document.querySelector('main'), elements);
// ...
appendChildren(document.body, elements);

…where appendChildren works like this…

function appendChildren(parent, elements) {
  for (const element of elements) parent.appendChild(element);
}

Here elements still contains the nodes, but they're also in the body. What does the proposal do that the above doesn't, and most importantly, why?
