digitize's Introduction

👋 Hi! I'm Timothée Poisot (he/him)

✨ I am an associate professor of Quantitative & Computational Ecologist at the Université de Montréal - https://poisotlab.io/

❓ What does it means?

❗ I use machine learning and data science tools to solve ecological problems, with a sustained interest for network ecology and the prediction of species interactions. I particularly enjoy the challenging puzzle of making inference from sparse and incomplete data, and to deal with multiple sources of uncertainty.

🦠 I build tools for viral discovery with the VERENA consortium
🎓 I teach computational skills to biodiversity scientists with BIOS²
📈 I work on AI applied to biodiversity forecasting with the GEOBON secretariat
🖥️ I serve on the scientific board of Compute Québec
⚛️ I serve of the steering committee of MonarQ, Québec's quantum computer for public research
🗞️ I have a newsletter! It's about ecology, time management, and education

💬 Reach out on bluesky or at [email protected]
🤸 I am very passionate about https://julialang.org/, ecological networks, and making sense of data on biodiversity
🗨️ I am available to give workshops and training sessions on computational ecology, and sometimes for data consulting

digitize's Issues

Improve docs

as mentioned in #6

  • package level doc
  • example in digitize
  • docs for compoenents

deprecated functions

Several of the functions in this package are marked as deprecated with out an indication of why or what replaces them. It is not clear how to use the package at all in the absence of the deprecated functions.

How to proceed from Selection of Points to their Manipulation?

I do successfully everything until
data.points = digitize::DigitData(col = 'red')
I cannot proceed to the step df = digitize::Calibrate(data.points, cal, 0.1, 0.4, 0.0, 0.6) because the point data is not stored. The closure of the point selection window does not yield to the save.

OS: Ubuntu 16.04
Hardware: Dell PC i3 2013
Installation of digitize: successful without warnings/errors
