movie-restorer-xtra's Issues

Windows 98 and Director 8.5 usage

I'm attempting to open a DCR using Director 8.5 within Windows 98 (VM) specifically. The Movie Restorer.x32 file is located within C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Director 8.5\Xtras.

When I go to the Xtras menu in Director, Movie Restorer isn't available. Is there anything special I may need to do to get it to appear? I have verified this setup works in Windows 7/Director MX 2004, so I'm wondering if it doesn't cooperate with such an old version of Windows.

Release Only Crash: Fatal error with Director 10.0.0.188 under Windows XP SP3 & 86Box

I'm running Macromedia Director MX 2004 (10.0.0.188) in Windows XP SP3 under 86Box. 86Box is configured with a 450Mhz Pentium 2 with 768MB of RAM and a Slot 1/AOpen AX6BC motherboard (see attached 86Box.cfg file)

After sticking the latest Release.zip Version of Movie Restorer.x32 file into the Configuration\Xtras folder and launching director, I get: A fatal error has occurred. Director will quit now.

Removing the Movie Restorer.x32 file allows it to launch correctly again.

I have a QEMU (qemu-system-i386) image running the same version of Windows XP SP3 and same Director version, it works ok on there, so I don't think it's a Windows XP problem.

My guess is it has something to do with how it was compiled. Perhaps your compiler settings you used to compile the file includes certain CPU features not present on the Pentium 2?

Using the 'Debug' version of file WORKS!

I'm not sure what is included in the Debug version that would allow it to function but not the release version.

Since it works ok with the Debug version, I'm not sure this issue is that important, so feel free to close it. If you'd like me to try out different builds to try and investigate more, just let me know.

Thanks for creating such an awesome tool for software preservation!

Here is the 86Box config file: 86box.cfg.txt

Help Movie Restorer

I hope you can help me, my Director knowledge is zero...

I have video on DVD that were made with interfaces created with Director. The DVD contains both *.dxr, *.cxt project files, *.x32 [Xtra] files, and *.mov video files.

If I open the *.mov videos with any media player they can be listened to with the audio but the video cannot be seen.
To watch the videos I have to use the application created with director.
Since the videos were shot at a resolution of 1024x700px, today that I have a 4k monitor it is highly uncomfortable to watch these video.
There would be a way to be able to decrypt these videos so as to have a video that can be opened with any software, at least with that I can enlarge it to full screen since the application made with director does not allow zoom. Even if I have to reconvert all the videos.
