Formatting the proposed solution:

def load_token_from_file(configuration, *args):
    if self.token_expires_at <= datetime.datetime.now(): 
        # this will reload the token from disk and update default configuration
        self.load_and_set() 
        configuration.api_key['BearerToken'] = self.token

Official https://github.com/kubernetes-client/python is not affected.
