In context translating & One click screenshots

Add translations in the code, and translate them directly in the app with the Tolgee i18n tool. Clicking an element while holding the ALT/option key opens a dialog where you can simply modify your strings. No need to edit large .json/.po/.whatever file. In-context translating works great also in the production environment.

Once. That's how many times you have to click to take a screenshot from your application with highlighted phrases to translate. Just ALT + click a string and hit the camera button. Boom! Screenshot generated.

Translating on production

In-context translating also works in the production environment of your deployed app. Using the Tolgee Tools Chrome plugin, you can simply provide your API key and start translating. This enables anybody without developer knowledge to translate your app.

True integrations

Tolgee is not just another localization platform offering integrations that just sync your local data with the backend. Tolgee is truly integrated into your app via SDKs.

Machine translation

We support DeepL, Google Translate, and AWS Translate. Select which services you want to use in the settings section. The machine translation features make the whole localization process significantly faster. Translators can just use translation suggestions provided by third-party machine translation services.

Translation memory

Tolgee automatically makes suggestions from translations you already used in the project so you can translate similar phrases in a similar way.

Translation memory suggestions also show the similarity percentage, the key, and the original text of the translated string.

Auto translation

When enabled, Tolgee automatically translates new keys using translation memory or machine translation services. Your strings are translated immediately, right after creation. Select if you would like to use translation memory and/or which machine translation service you would like to use to automatically translate new keys.

Activity log

See who modified, reviewed or commented on the phrases in your project. Clearly.

Comment on translations

Something look off? Tell others what you would change. You can comment every translation on Tolgee platform.

Translation history

See the changes to specific translations of a specific key in a specific language. Something is wrong? You know where to point the finger!

Danger zone - frame issue

Hi. First of all, really great project!

Repro steps:

1. As a logged in user, go to the Project settings:
   https://app.tolgee.io/projects/<number>/manage/edit
2. Change browser window size, make a window width smaller
3. Take a look at the Danger zone (out of the frame)
   (important note! these steps with expanded menu from the left side)

Add number of unresolved tags to translations endpoint

To show proper notification in translations list we need to add number of unresolved comments in /translations endpoint

[Feature request] JSON import via API

Hi Everyone,

I tried out tolgee the last few days. I pretty like the simplificant of the app. Its pretty cool.
I have some ideas maybe someone also need it:

Can we apply users to the specific languages ? so only user A can edit english ?
Why Translate role has the ability to export the translations ? - can we make it possible to enable / disable it
Why Translate role has the ability to integrate ? - can we make it possible to enable / disable it

Inventions Links with expiry date ?

Would be cool if these features could be added :)

I am trying to get the spring backend up and running in order to try things out regarding webhooks. Since I am new to spring I don't have experience in getting those kind of projects up and running. Therefore it would be nice to have some documentation.

[BUG] JSON keys with dot conflicts

Hello,

First of all great open source project !

ISSUE : When you use dot to separate your keys the json files will create conflicts between keys
EXAMPLE : auth.login.forgot_password and auth.login.help_text

SUGGESTED SOLUTION : Parse dot (.) as nested object in JSON

Add rate limits externalized configuration

Currently, the Rate limit constants are hardcoded and cannot be turned off when self-hosted.

Use of "username" term is confusing

While looking at the source code (and on the login page), I saw that in a lot of places (including in the database), the email address is referred to as "username", which was quite confusing to me at first. On the login screen, it makes it ambiguous whether the app is asking for the name you set while registering, or the email address. It also made me confused at first when browsing the source code, as I once again didn't expect the username to be a reference to the email address.

While renaming the database field and request objects internally may be a breaking change, changing the wording of "username" to "email" or "login" on the login screen would be less confusing to end users, and would be more consistent internally.

I would like to request the support for .ini files as the source of the languages. There are plenty packages to convert the .ini files to a key-value array so this should be quite straight forward.

Project/Organization creation on self hosted instance

It appears localization data actually has the translation text, except the key has an extra _error at the end (see en.json#L202.) It seems other keys have this extra _error at the end, so there might be other keys with the same issue.

Translate permissions for specific language

Currently, we cannot simply enable users to translate specific language. So we need to provide special configuration option to specify languages when user has translate permission.

Cannot use Machine Translation to translate from english to english

Instance administration

It'd be nice to have a way for administrators (I noticed there's already an ADMIN flag on users) to be able to see all the users, organizations, and projects living on the instance, and manage them. This could also allow disabling registrations on an instance, and creating accounts manually for people who should be allowed to log in.

As tolgee.io also provides Tolgee as a service, management can quickly become an issue and a nightmare to deal with when people decide to start abusing the platform (we can't have nice things in this world 😔). Maybe it'll also become a handy place to put tools when paid plans roll out as well, who knows!
