When setting the payload directly as string to a number property, the logs do not work as the upper scale is always NaN.
Since we already know at that point which type the payload must have, it can simply be cast before updating the property.
If everyone is okay with it, i will have a look at this.

The discovery of my homie devices doesn't work if I have users (& corresponding passwords) in my mosquitto broker's config.

Since there's no option to set this in the homie addon's config, I assume it isn't using the mqtt bridge addon (which does support broker username and password).

I just thought about to transfer my project to Homie spec to use only MQTT on the device and make it more compatibe to other IOT projects, like HA. For connection to Mozilla Webthings I wanted to use your plugin. However, I struggle at one elementary thing at the beginning. The Homie spec provides a $type for nodes. It seems that your library doesn't set the device type according to this, I can only add a 'custom thing'. Do you plan to set device types according to https://iot.mozilla.org/schemas/ in your plugin? The custom things are ugly and don't provide the functionality I need for a thermostat, I even can't select this device type manually.

Devices and properties contain meta tags about its content. Verify the list of containing nodes and its properties and make sure to not add any non-mentioned items.
