EveryStamp

EveryStamp aims to be an over-arching package to easily obtain postage stamps from a variety of surveys.

Installation

EveryStamp can be installed through pip from PyPI via

pip install EveryStamp

or directly from the git repository via

pip install git+https://github.com/tikk3r/EveryStamp.git

Usage

Three main types of functionality are currently supported: downloading cutouts, simple plotting and making cutouts from local FITS files:

  {download,plot,cutout}
    download            Download a cutout from a specified survey.
    plot                Plot a user-supplied FITS image.
    cutout              Cut a user-supplied FITS image to size.

everystamp's Issues

Option "both" downloads to extension .both for Legacy

When specifying --mode both Legacy images are downloaded with the extension .both instead of downloading both JPEG and FITS format.

Overplot contours

VLASS downloads from the same subtile overwrite each other

This occurs when downloading multiple sources that are in the same subtile, in succession, to the same folder.

Add functionality to create a HiPS from images

HiPSDownloader fails when name contains /

HiPSDownloader fails when no name is specified and the HiPS name contains forward slashes, which then get interpreted as path separators.

Add plotting sub command skeleton.

Tonemapping for non-FITS images

Image manipulation for non-FITS cutouts such as JPEG or PNG would be nice.

VLASS download can bug out if image already exists

Especially failed earlier downloads can cause weird errors such as TypeError: buffer is too small for requested array
