android-markdown-widget's Issues

check boxes don't check

I assume the purpose of this app is to have functioning checklists based on your own files. If that's not the case could you add it to your list of feature requests?

Fix github release pipeline

There are two ways to create a new release: 1) creating a new tag in the git cli and pushing it and 2) using the github ui to create a new release, which also creates a new tag.

  1. works and is tested.
  2. does not work. The github action tries to create a new release but fails because the release with that tag already exists.

Fix: use a github action to upload the assets to the release which supports modifying a release if it already exists.

Text wrap in code snippets

Great job making this app!!
Sadly, if the text in one line of the file is longer than the size of the widget, it overflows, rendering a part of it invisible.
It would be useful to somehow enforce a text-wrap property to prevent it from doing so.

When selecting .md file, widget crashes

Using the file browser, I try selecting an *.md file on an external SD Card, and when clicking it in the file browser, no new widget is made, instead it seems like the widget crashes, and no new widget is made.
Sometimes I am able to make a widget based on an *.md file, but it does not display a preview in the widget, and when clicking on the widget, it just opens up the widget app (where it displays the homescreen with a button to buy a coffee, and the test text).
I'm not sure if you need more information, let me know if you would like more info.

Downloaded the *.apk file from the link:
https://f-droid.org/packages/ch.tiim.markdown_widget/
Downloaded version: 0.1.4

Phone information:
Model: Galaxy A12
Model #: SM-A125W
Android version 11
One UI Core version (not sure if this is important): 3.1
Kernel version: 4.19.127-22457745

Open with other apps

  • When I choose to open with default markdown app (I use Markor), it tells me that the path is not absolute so it cannot open it. Here is it detailed info: gsantner/markor#1381
  • I cannot open it with Obsidian

Can't select .md files to add the widget

I've installed the app trough F-Droid and none of whatever '.md' files are clickable when selecting the files to create the widget.

Is it just me an and my phone or everyone else is experimenting the same issue?

Download

Hey Tim.

This widget looks very promising, however I can't find an .apk. Neither here nor at F-Droid or in the Play Store. At GitLab I read that your widget should be published on F-Droid, but a donation is missing?

Do you still plan to release the app? I would be very happy about it.

Thanks in advance

Widget description missing

When adding the widget (in One UI 4.1, anyway), there's a space for a widget description that currently says:

This is an app widget description

We should add a nice description there.

Add a manual refresh button

The widget only re-renders when it is resized, it seems like. A manual refresh button, or at least a setting to show one, would be nice.
