week/month view has sped up the data download to basically negligible speed, but a request spends 99% of its lifetime (currently ~2.5s) waiting, which means that our server is fetching from the database inefficiently. I will deal with this next.

It's still grabbing all data before slicing down and transferring to client right? This might be the issue.
