I haven't been keeping up with all the happenings, but I did stumble across CCOSTAN/Home-AssistantConfig#644 which includes a really nice refactor to reduce lines in configs.

Reducing config lines is always a good decision. So on to making it happen.

Porch Lights need to turn on based on cloud cover not just sunset.

There is no need for the input_booleans used as a condition on automations to handle turning on and off the automation results when turning off the automation can handle that.

The idea is to randomize a group of haunted house mp3 files to play through out the day.

Since I am using Hassbian this will be done via a shell command (mpg123) and a randomized trigger.

Think I will have to create a script for each mp3 and then choose which script to file at execute.

For some reason Home Assistant appears to loose connection to the Chromecast and audible notifications stop working until a reboot or the chromecast is unplugged and plugged back in.

Super annoying. It never appears to loose connection if the google home hub.

I want to include a countdown to school events so that I can include the countdown in Skylar's daily announcements. They should have both a count down to the start and then a count down to the end.

Could also use this to countdown the end of summer....

I suspect the issue is that when I disabled my api key and my moved off duckdns domain these broke and I just never realized it.

I just need to moved these to Nabu Casa web hooks.

Currently the daily audible announcements are controlled using input_datetime for each report. The input_datetime is set via the UI.

But there are times when those each input_datetime should update based on day of the week, holidays, and summer versus school year.

This is late, It was an impulse add.

When the forecast low will be <= 35 F turn on a freeze warning notification.

Use a freeze sensor that reads mqtt topic.

When temp is forecasted to be below freezing -> MQTT publish 'watch' to freeze topic.

When temp is actually below freezing outside ->MQTT publish 'warning' to freeze topic.

When temp will be above freezing -> MQTT publish 'none' to freeze topic.

Didn't even know this was a thing. Going to test to see if this can replace my current method of using webhooks triggered by a siri shortcut, so I can adhere to my first law of home automation.

This had been disabled due to a bug that would cause the Raspberypi memory to fill up and crash.

I think I am ready to try it how again.

I want to migrate all the audio notifications using shell commands to play MP3s to the the media player in order to better control when the notification plays.

Grandparents don't really like it when you ask them to babysit the kid while you and the wife go to see Rise of Skywalker and the house security system goes into counter measure mode.

Use #33 to make audible notifications.

When freeze sensor is 'none' no alert. When freeze sensor is 'watch' reminders to bring in plants. When freeze sensor is 'warning' make announcements on outside weather conditions.

Need a security report that can be triggered before leaving to verify if all doors are closed.

Been working a lot on Halloween stuff, and realized I have speakers all over the house. So why not add in some random "haunted" sound effects to play at low volume at random times.

Might have to put the guest mode condition in there so it doesn't freak out visitors.

Now the fact that I couldn't get Amazon to see the new switch I created last week seems to have been a sign of a bigger issue..

I decided to clean up @home_assistant entities in Alexa. When through and disabled the ones I didnt need exposed in the Nabu Cases Alexa Integration. Hit forget all on Amazon side and then discover to re-add just the devices I wanted. This has worked everytime. Until now. No matter what I do I can’t seem to get Amazon to see them…
